After the euphoria from yesterday's bench unveiling todays session was a bit down in numbers with 54 playing back to yesterday the feed back we got from members and there families was amazing to quote Lenny "the best days we've ever had " back to todays session 10 v 9 on big pitch resulting in a 4 0 win for the oranges 🍊 5 x6 and 1 5 on the 3 small pitches refereed by Lenny n Pat and Pete from Louth again after his first stint with us last week thanks to all plus the lads who set up ! After playing in yesterday's memorial game it was great see Stuart Blackbourne playing in a session for at least a year 👏 in the game I played against him he scored against us then swapped sides and scored for us and set me up to score well done Stuart hope you enjoyed it as much as we did seeing you back playing instead of reffing as I hinted on Monday the Quiz at the Grimsby Yacht Club has been cancelled due to lack of numbers with 50 people required to make it viable thanks to Mick G and Dave N for trying to make this happen keep looking out for future social events also if youve got any suggestions speak to Neil Troth and he'll discuss them at the committee meetings to see if we can make them happen 👍 I've posted pictures of the world cup sweepstakes again if uouve not seen which team you've got 👍 see you all Monday !

Today we held the unveiling of our memorial bench to honour the lads we've lost since the club was started it was also the inaugural memorial game of 12 aside walking football ⚽️ which we will be held annual to pay tribute to those past members it was great to see the family's of those members down to unveil the bench personally I think its one of the best days in the clubs history with stories of there loved ones and a few tears to boot the unveiling and the minutes applause were very emotional but a fitting tribute to them ! Big thanks go to all who helped put this together those who's bench idea and the sourcing of the bench helped it come to fruition the rest of my fellow committee members especially Colin for the organising of the teams etc a special thanks to Anne Boyers who have up her free time to photograph this special occasion also to Lincs Inspire for allowing to have this bench at the home of the Grimsby Ancient Mariners Walking Football Club plus putting on a magnificent buffet which went down well with our guests and members but all in all today was not about the members or the football it was about honouring those members who are sadly no longer with us but always in our thoughts and there loved ones who were there today to help pay tribute to them thanks again to all who attended and the members who came to make this occasion very special which im sure will be rembered by all x
On todays numbers a Beatles song come to mind with 64 playing over 4 pitches today 12 aside on big pitch which im told finished 1 0 to orange with Ken Thompson scoring the only goal sounds like the defences were on top today probably along with the keepers! 5 7s and 1 6 on the three small pitches which made for tight games controlled brilliantly by Lenny ,Pat n Stuart thanks lads also thanks to the set up crew !
