We headed to Selby for the North Duffield Dragons tournament against opposition from Doncaster, Selby, Hull and surrounding areas.

Typical summer weather, with strong wind and not much sun!

This was an immensley close league, which went all the way to the final games. Cobras qualified for the Champions League final by virtue of goals scored, after three teams all finished on the same points and goal difference.

Playing the league winners Rufforth in the semi finals, the team stuck to a game plan looking comfortable, until a long range shot was parried and the opposition striker reacted quickest to the rebound.

1-0 down, five minutes to go the lads chucked everything they had at Rufforth. In the last minute the Cobras keeper just failed to connect with a header from a corner... the ball was retrieved, crossed in to Cole who drilled a shot heading into the bottom corner, only for the keeper to pull off a great save.

The rebounding ball caused a melee of bodies trying to put the ball in the net. Unfortunately it just wouldnt go in!!

Rufforth went on to win 1-0 in the final, so congatulations to them.🏆

A well organised tournament, and a beneficial day out for the boys.

Battle lines are drawn for the new season of under 16s.🖌🖌 Pitch has recovered well and hopefully the re-digging of the ditches will help for the winter months.

Unfortunately, they already need going over after the rain ☔️☔️ and grass cut.🚜🚜

🏆Most Improved Player of the Season

🖤 #14 JASPER

Jasper has had a season of big improvements.

He is a coaches dream, always listens and , tries to take on board / implement what he has been asked to do. Gives 100% and is a great team player.

Jasper has played several games in midfield and multiple positions from the centre and on the wing.His appetite to win the ball back and break up play has been very effective for the team.

He has scored several goals in the league including a well taken brace v Grimsby United, as well as also scoring two quick fire goals from off the bench in the recent Louth tounament semi final, which his team went on to win the final.

🏆Most Improved Player of the Season

🖤 #10 NEGASSI

Negassi has had a fantastic first season for the Cobras, but been very unlucky with several injuries which have hampered some of it as well.

This boy has grown so much as a player. When joining the team his prefered role was in midfield, and only midfield!!

Hard work with the coaches has paid off, and he can now play anywhere on the pitch with supreme confidence. Playing in defence he was awarded man of the match on two occasions. At the other end of the pitch, scoring a glut of goals towards the end of the season.

Negassi has pace to burn and is impossible to beat in a foot race.👟 Add to this his close ball control, he can glide past players comfortably and recover the ball when helping in his defensive duties.
