Grimsby Netball Leagues

I’m delighted to welcome on board Amy Stewart to our management team for the week to week running of the Grimsby Thursday league.

Amy is an incredibly enthusiastic netball individual who was recently nominated for a host of awards in the recent Yorkshire Netball One awards including Unsung Hero of the Year, Coach of the Year and Community Official of the Year. Amy has helped to establish North Ferriby Netball Club, umpires two “Netball Leagues” in Anlaby, Hull, runs a successful Back to Netball session whilst managing a full time job also! Wow!

Amy will be your intermediate for communication - both players and umpires - and will help manage the leagues going forward. Michael will continue to oversee and will still be available. Amy’s vast experience of playing, umpiring and coaching will make her an ideal asset for overall structure, answering questions and providing solutions in quick time.

In due course we will both visit the leagues so you can put a face to the name and contact details will be provided privately in the very near future to team captains following a period of training for Amy later this month.

I’m sure you’ll all join me in welcoming Amy to the team in what will be an excellent addition. 🙌🏻🏐

We will be taking a one week break and resuming our new netball league season next week.
Sorry for the delay, we have been trying to get a final answer from the centre regarding extending our session to accommodate a new team. We should have this all wrapped up by the end of the week with new season fixtures released by the weekend. 🏐

It’s a little disappointing to write this but evidently must be done. It seems in recent weeks our hugely liked, respected and significantly committed umpires have been receiving some unwarranted comments and criticisms over decisions on court.

This is not a forum to name names or for responses in relation to individual decisions made correctly or not.

This is a plea and unfortunately a warning to teams that the league will not tolerate any form of abuse towards our officials. Come rain or shine over the last 4 years our commited duo of Deryn and Gwyn have been with us every week to officiate this social league and under no circumstances will we allow them to leave due to the rude or unsportsmanlike comments made by individuals and teams.

We are all human and we will make mistakes. Can you all honestly say that on court you don’t make a mistake? A poor pass, shot, poor movement or a bad knock? This is part and parcel of the sport. Let’s remember this is fun. Yes it’s competitive and prizes up for grabs but let’s respect everyone including the umpires who run this league weekly.

Weekly bans and/or fines for individuals and teams will have to be implemented if necessary with permanent bans imposed if the situation does not improve.

Thank you as always to the committed players and teams who play fairly, competitively and with a smile on their faces despite their result.

A new Grimsby Thursday Netball league season has been released!

We welcome a new team this season with NUTTY NETTERS. With this extra team it means we have 7 teams so therefore every week is a rest week for one team meaning one rest week every 7 weeks for each team.

Therefore if you are pitted against POINTS MATCH 1 at 9pm, that is a rest week and a default 18-0 win for your team 👍🏻👍🏻

Grimsby Thursday Netball: Crowing our champions! Netball results from the final matchday in Grimsby on 16th March 2023.

Due to the weather conditions, both a combination or rain, sleet and potential snow, we are taking the early decision to cancel this evenings netball games.

The final game of the season will be completed next week with a new season on Thursday March 23rd.

In what feels like an eternity we’re pleased to finally resume the Grimsby Thursday netball league this evening.
