🏆 Match Preparation Going to Plan! 🎱
A superb 84 break from Jake Chamberlain last night showed he’s hitting form at exactly the right time ahead of his England Nations debut.
With confidence growing and his game looking sharp, Jake continues to put the hard work in at the table. Performances like this are a great sign of what’s to come as he prepares to wear the England shirt.
Best of luck, Jake – everyone is behind you! 🇬🇧🎱

Good morning everyone,
We have made the decision to close the GY Cue Masters Academy for the summer break.
However, our junior players are still welcome to come along on Sundays from 10:00am to 1:00pm, where tables will be available free of charge for practice.
If any of our coaches are in the club during this time, they will be more than happy to offer guidance and coaching whenever possible.
We hope you all have a fantastic summer, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back on Sunday, 6th September, refreshed and ready for another great season of snooker.
Have a wonderful summer! ❤️❤️ xx

Jake’s Snooker Journey
Jake’s journey in snooker began when he was around 14 years old. His uncle, Liam, owned Cue World, and it was there that Jake first discovered his love for the game. Liam and Liam dad, John, would regularly spend time playing frames with him, helping to build the foundations of his game.
Not long afterwards, former professional player and English Amateur Champion Jamie Curtis-Barrett established a junior snooker academy at Cue World. Thanks to Liam’s generosity, the juniors were able to train completely free of charge, giving many young players, including Jake, an incredible opportunity to develop.
Sadly, Cue World eventually had to close, and the academy was forced to move on. Thankfully, Grimsby Bowls and West End Club stepped in and kindly offered the use of their two snooker tables. Jake, along with several of the academy juniors, continued their development there with the help and dedication of Jamie, Leigh Newby and Joel Chamberlain.
As the academy continued to grow, it became clear that two tables simply weren’t enough. A difficult decision had to be made, and in January 2026 we proudly opened our own snooker club to ensure the juniors could continue to learn, develop and enjoy the game.
In 2025, we had the absolute honour of welcoming Stan Moody as the club’s ambassador. Stan’s support has been invaluable, and Jamie has continued to play a huge role in helping both the club and our young players progress.
During the 2025/26 season, Jake decided to test himself by joining the EPSB Under-21 Tour, competing against some of the best young players in the country. It was his first experience at such a high level, and after a fantastic season he deservedly earned a place in the international squad for the upcoming event.
None of this would have been possible without the generosity of our ambassador, our sponsors, and the incredible people who have supported Jake every step of the way.
Although Jake has now outgrown the academy, he still plays an important role. He regularly visits to see how the juniors are progressing, offers his support whenever he can, and is now proud to be one of the owners of the snooker club that helped shape his journey.
A huge thank you goes to Jamie Curtis-Barrett, Stan Moody, Liam, John, Leigh Newby, Joel Chamberlain, Tash, all of Jake’s brothers and family, our sponsors, and every single person who has been involved with the academy and the club over the years. Your belief, generosity and support have made this journey possible.
This is far more than Jake’s story—it’s the story of a community coming together to give young people the opportunity to succeed, both on and off the snooker table. Thank you to everyone who has played a part in making it happen.

Hard work pays off and ranking lists don't lie.
This is a massive achievement for Jake Chamberlain and we're all behind him as he will wear the 3 lions crest with pride.
Excellent achievement.
This also puts you amongst other Grimsby players Stuart Carrington and Jamie Curtis Barrett who also represented there country.

🎱 What an absolute cracker of a session at GY Cue Masters Academy today!
We had 12 juniors lighting up the tables, including 4 wide-eyed new starters who showed up ready to become the next snooker sensations.
Our two legends of coaches put them through their paces like absolute pros: first drilling table care and etiquette (because nobody wants chalk handprints on the baize like a crime scene), then stance, and white ball control. Some of these kids were treating the cue like a lightsaber — may the force be with their aim!
To finish, we unleashed chaos in the best way possible: table bowls that got properly competitive, followed by a mini shootout, that had more drama than a World Championship final. There were pots, misses, celebrations, and one or two balls that may still be hiding under the table. So much fun it should probably be illegal on a Sunday!
Shout out to one of our regular team members who "tragically" couldn't join in due to a mysterious foot injury...
Mate, we all know that foot was fine until it heard the words "white ball practice" 😂 Excuses level: Olympic standard. Get well soon... or at least get a better story next time!
Huge thanks to our amazing coaches for herding the chaos, and to every junior who brought the energy. These sessions are genuinely building the next generation of cue wizards.
Who’s joining us next week? We can't wait 😁😁😁
We would also like to mention that without the support of our ambassador Stan Moody and our sponsors funky chalk, cue and cases and baize master who donated our cues and cases and equipment. None of this would be possible. And also a very special mention to our good friend Ian Clarke who has supported and donated to our club from day one. We thankyou from the bottom of our hearts. ❤️
