Chris has had problems since birth. He has Hydrocephalus (water on the brain), Epilepsy, Diabetes, optic nerve damage and learning difficulties. At times, Chris can be a handful. When he is, Carer Support Worker Andy is there to give Mum, Carol, the break from caring that she so desperately needs.

Life is hectic for Carol and always has been. So much so, that she had a breakdown and continues to take anti-depressants to this day.

A social worker recommended Crossroads Care Surrey to Carol, and the rest is history.

Carer Support Worker Andy has supported Carol by being a friend to Chris for the last 6 ½ years.
Andy’s objective is to ensure Carol gets a rest from caring for Chris, by engaging in fun activities with him.

Andy visits Carol four times a week to share the demands of taking care of Chris.

We are excited to announce that Crossroads Care Surrey will be the first charity partners of the Guildford 10k in October 2023 🤝

Crossroads Care Surrey are a local charity that have been supporting Surrey’s unpaid carers for over 40 years. The support they offer comes mainly in the form of respite breaks but extends from companionship visits all the way through to end of life care.

Starting and finishing from the iconic cobbled High Street in the heart of Guildford Town Centre, participants follow a professional race pacing team along fully-closed roads towards Clandon along the Epsom road. 🏃
