πŸ’₯ Start the New Year with a bang πŸ’₯

Couldn’t be happier with George yesterday for our first trip of 2022.

He jumped two lovely double clears in the 85 amateur first rounds and British Novice. Coming πŸ₯‰ in the 85 and πŸ₯ˆ in the BN.

We even managed to stay dry all day πŸ™ƒ

The little break from jumping has done him wonders πŸ– Now just looking forward to having fun this year.

My mood since Tweseldown on Saturday β¬†οΈπŸ˜‘

Our matching faces in the first picture are a fairly good representation on how our day went to on Saturday.

Started out with a lovely dressage for 26.5 to us into second place.

Then went on to jump a nice showjumping round just having one down. He really wasn’t a big fan of the deep ground but jumped quite well. I annoyingly ended up with 8 faults though because I circled before I went through the finish timers πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ Total blonde moment and I didn’t even realise I’d done it but WONT be doing that again!!

Next up cross country. It was a big bold track which is not unusual for Tweseldown but George started out really strong. He was feeling confident and jumping so much better than he has been recently. He then had a silly stop at 8 (the fence before the water) I could hear lots of people having issues and eliminations here so was pleased when he popped over on our second attempt. He then took a disliking to 12 - He wasn’t actually worried about the fence, it was more the ditch and stream either side which is really frustrating but again he popped over second time and finished the course strong.

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t disappointed again and it’s really left me feeling deflated but I didn’t fall off, no one got hurt and we didn’t get eliminated!

Now time for lots of practice before out next event at the end of June.

πŸ”Ή Firle Place Area Festival πŸ”Ή

Not the ending I’d dreamt yesterday at Firle but I’m trying to look all the positives!

We started out on Saturday with a lovely dressage to get 30.3 and were sitting in 3rd place. Best of all we had no dramas with the dreaded flower pots so at least all the practice at home helped 🌸

We then went back on Sunday for our showjumping and cross country. The morning started off well with a lovely clear showjumping round. Couldn’t fault George at all - he was super!

We went into the cross country in the lead but that’s where it all went wrong. He had a big spook at the plastic sheep and dog between 4a & b and stopped at the b element. He was really backward and sticky from there and we ended our round at fence 10 and made the long walk back to the lorry!

I’m absolutely gutted as he’s been going so well recently and feels like a massive step back but it was a tough technical course and it’s definitely he’s weakest phase so I’m going to really focus on the XC for a while and hopefully his confidence will grow!

Onto the next...

🌸Chilham Castle report 🌸

Great day yesterday at Chilham for Mr George.

We started off with a rather interesting test as George didn’t like the flower pots at A πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ but some really nice parts so ended up with a generous 33.8.

He then went onto jump a super clear showjumping round and a clear XC with some tf time faults to finish in 7th place.

πŸ’« Bovington report πŸ’«

Super day on Sunday with Mr George with a 24.8 double clear to take the win πŸ’™

Started with a nice test to lead the section, I was so happy when I read the result after getting a slightly harsh mark at Munstead and to lead the section was mega.

We then went onto jump a lovely clear showjumping round. There was an amazing sausage dog fence which I though he might find spooky but he breezed over no problem 🌭🐢

Thennn we moved into the XC. Although it might be good on paper it was far from a perfect round! We were going okay until I totally lost my stirrup and spent the rest of the round doing my best Mark Todd impression, just far less stylish!! We went clear though just picking up 1.2 time pens to finish on 26 and keep the lead πŸ₯‚

We had such a great day in the sunshine for our first event of the season.

Started with a lovely test & George behaved beautifully. Sadly, the judge didn’t agree and we got a harsh 34.3.

We then went into a nice clear showjumping round. We haven’t jumped a course away from home for months so very happy with how he went.

Finally the cross country & it was SO MUCH FUN! Slight sticky moment at fence 4, so we had a quick chat and flew round the rest.

So pleased with George yesterday, really couldn’t have asked for more from him πŸ¦„

Looking forward to Bovington this weekend.

Last few days to enter Equine America UK Ltd competition to win a years supply of Cortaflex!

All you need to do is upload your photo with the Equine America banner in the background, either to Facebook or Instagram & tag Equine America and hashtag

Such an amazing prize. It’s so important to look after our horses joints, especially when you regularly ride and compete or have a golden oldie. It’s the best supplement out there!

George in the Dodson & Horrell Norge amateur second rounds yesterday.

We had an annoying pole when I let him get a little flat at a related distance but we had a great day nonetheless.

(At least we don’t have to travel all the way to Liverpool πŸ˜…)

Really looking forward to working on our showjumping this winter. George was great...it’s now my turn to get my butt into gear πŸ™‹πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

𝑻𝒉𝒂𝒕’𝒔 𝒂 π’˜π’“π’‚π’‘

It wasn’t quite the perfect end to the season I would have loved but we had such a fun day at Tweseldown yesterday for our last event of the year.

We started with a lovely test of 30 putting us near the top of the class.

We saw loads of eliminations in the showjumping so I was a little nervous before we went in πŸ’© but George was a star and jumped a lovely clear round.

Sadly I got my line slightly wrong on the XC causing us 20 pens but he flew round the rest and gave me such a great feeling over a technical beefy track.

I was very disappointed yesterday (had to take myself for a baby cry in the trailer!) as we would have been second without the XC blip but on reflection it was a good day and I’m so pleased with the improvement with George this season.

Massive thanks to Claire Anscombe for chauffeuring me and being a top groom!

Throwback πŸ‘ˆπŸΌ

to Tweseldown two years ago & George was a superstar to come second in the pouringgg rain.

We were number 13 that day and we are number 113 on Saturday. Let’s hope it’s a sign and we have the same success πŸ€πŸ€žπŸ½πŸ¦„

Posted β€’ The superstar smashed it again at the weekend πŸ’₯ Finishing on his dressage score of 29 to come second πŸ¦„πŸ₯ˆπŸ˜„

Disappointing day today for us at Bricky.

Started with what felt like a lovely test, but the judge just didn’t agree and was very harshly marked for 34.8. The section was all fairly high marks but still felt the score didn’t reflect how well he went.

Then he was jumping so well in the showjumping until he stopped at the second to last fence. Not sure what he didn’t like but he completely died in front of the fence πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

We then had another two stops out on the cross country. Again he was jumping so well but didn’t like a chunky skinny we had to jump up hill.

Sadly our badminton dream is going to have to wait for another day.

Positives from today..

* Lovely dressage & the first time in a long arena (even if the judge didn’t agree)
* George jumped all the technical lines really well, and we completed the most technical/long course we have ever attempted.

Negatives from today..

* I came home from the cross country without my hat silk and didn’t realise I looked like an egg head for ages 🀘🏼
