I get asked a lot about ‘school readiness’, my line is that school needs to get ready for your child- not the opposite!

There is a level of independence that should be encouraged- being able to put shoes and coats on and off, wiping bottoms etc. But this is age/stage appropriate and necessary in order to develop self esteem and autonomy.

How will you develop your curriculum for the next academic year? Both Development Matters and Birth to Five Matters are available, but neither are statutory, do either reflect the pedagogy at your setting?
