Huge congratulations to our Treasurer and President for collecting their awards for their outstanding contribution and achievement in Karate.
Learning Karate is a great way to improve physical fitness and to learn self-defence. The University club provides regular training for interested students
The Clubβs main style of Karate is Shotokan. Shotokan is a style of karate , which originated from Okinawan Karate from Japan. In the club, there are members of all styles of Karate, so if you donβt study Shotokan , donβt worry! All styles are welcome

Great session today! Good session after too at Wates ππ
Hey! we have our training times now:
BUCS class on Mondays 7 - 9 TB06
Traditional class on Thursday 8 - 10 TB06.
The BUCS class is in preparation for nationals and any other tournaments which does involve sparring whereas the traditional class is more skill based (combinations, kata, etc). I would highly recommend and you are welcome to come and join in on the lessons to judge for yourself!

Hi everyone!
We're excited to meet and greet you all at the upcoming taster sessions.
As a general description of what each entails:
Tuesday: Sport - This will be geared towards those looking to compete in BUCS (our major yearly competition) as well as potential smaller university competitions. This will involve sparring practice, and technique in a safe environment. (University Hall 6-7 pm)
Wednesday: Traditional - This is geared towards kata and grading requirements (i.e. what you will be expected to do to progress in the syllabus) and will be vital towards achieving higher belt grades. (Surrey Sports Park Studio A and B 8-10 pm)
If you are still unsure of which you'd like to pursue, feel free to come along to both and try them out! Both classes are open to beginners or those looking for a more casual experience, and you don't have to compete or grade to attend.
Hope to see you there!
