So what actually happened at Summer Rock?
Ten teams played round robin in the urban jungle of sunny Guildford, representing Birmingham, Dorset, London, Kent and of course - Surrey. Music played and MVPs were nominated, with Lewis Dobson declared MVP of the tournament. Giant Killer at half time created a winner out of Weston Flynn, who's laughing all the way to the bank.
The top four then battled out in play-offs, leading to a close semi-final between Monstars and The Pugs. With an even score as time ended, Rock history was made as the first Golden Basket game was declared. Shots went up but disappointed the crowd as they rolled out again, with players fighting for the ball, both on and off the ground. Yet it was a reverse layup by Sanj that won the Pugs their third place.
The Real MVPs then took on Nigel Barrage in the final. With powerful performances from both teams, it was the Real MVPs that brought home the prize. As ever - brilliant basketball, great people. Thank you also to Fingarolla for their sponsorship of the prizes and help on the day. Congratulations to everyone - we will see you next Rock!
Enjoy the photos :)
