Tomorrow marks the first day of our Drowning Prevention Lessons and with over 25,000 children taking part in a host of activities within their school or learn to swim lesson, it's bound to be a busy week of learning!
As part of a national campaign to raise awareness for water safety, and to practise water safety skills, children in swimming lessons will need a clean t-shirt and a pair of shorts/pyjama bottoms (please note onesies are not suitable for this activity) for your child to wear over their swimwear during the lesson. Practicing survival skills while weighed down by wet clothes is one of the most valuable experiences a young swimmer can have. Adult & Baby/toddler lessons will take part in activities but don't need additional clothing.
✨ Get involved in our fun Colouring Competition! We have prizes up for grabs across all our leisure centres. Pick up a colouring sheet next time you’re at the centre or download it here 👉 https://monkeylink.co/90031c
Don’t forget to bring in your child’s completed entry by Sunday 21 June, we’ll be choosing our winners shortly after! 🏆💛 Pop your child's full name and contact number on the reverse!

Do you want to try your hand at a water sport and celebrate two incredible milestones? 🌊
This weekend marks 20 years since Leeds Sailing and Activity Centre first set sail on Yeadon Tarn. To mark this special occasion and support city-wide efforts to celebrate 400 years of Leeds receiving its first City Charter, the team will be hosting an open day and are looking for adventurous locals to take on a very special challenge: complete 400 laps of the tarn.
Taking place this Saturday (6 June), visitors (age 8+) can take part in sailing, kayaking, or paddleboarding – with a team of qualified instructors on hand throughout the day. Doors will open at 9am and the centre team will be counting every lap made until the end of the open day at 1pm.
Sessions cost £10 per person for a 45-minute session. And if you prefer solid ground, archery and indoor caving are also available.
The Leeds Sailing and Activity Centre is located at Cemetery Road, LS19 7UP. To book your open day session, visit https://monkeylink.co/a6826f

☀️ It’s heating up – time to cool down! 💦
Why not head to one of the Active Leeds Leisure Centres and enjoy a refreshing swim?
With sessions available for children and teens of all ages, it’s a fun, safe way to stay active this summer. ✅
🏊 Just £3 per swim (£3.15 from 1 June)
⚠️ With recent tragic incidents in open water, it’s a reminder that lakes, rivers and reservoirs can be unpredictable; cold water shock, hidden hazards and strong currents make them far more dangerous than they appear.
Choosing a lifeguarded swimming pool is a safer way to stay cool and have fun. 💙
Make a splash and keep safe – we’ll see you at the pool! Check out our timetables via the Active Leeds app or website https://monkeylink.co/7b13e6
