🚨 Milestone Alert 🚨
This weekend John “Greeny, Cymbals” Greenwood has cracked another milestone sailing past 9000 club runs and joins an elite band of cricketers! Good to see him back on the field of play and really putting his heart into it! And just in case you are still wondering……

Yes he has won the Crossley Shield! Great job Greeny, an eye on 10,000 now?

🚨Milestone Alert 🚨
While we’ve been counting down our top 10’s we’ve had another couple of milestones achieved!

Dan Keighley passes 4000 club runs, back as a regular in the 1’s this season there’s plenty more to come! Great job Dan.

And Simon “Hampy” Hampshire passed 500 2nd XI wickets, not bad for a wicket keeper!

🚨Top 10 Batters🚨
And our number one, is none other than John Scholefield, having scored 13,371 runs across 53 seasons he’s currently out on his own! In his time with the club he captained the 2’s, winning the Calder Valley Cup (84) and the Ernest Clay Trophy (02). He started playing in 1965 and last took to the field in 2017. He was one of the calmest men I have ever seen on the field of play, nothing ruffled him. In his time at the club he was Secretary for 42 years and has recently taken over as Club Chairman. Another pivotal man in the constant development of the club.

We’re hoping a few of these players (and others) will join us at the club tomorrow from 2pm for the reunion and enjoy a cricket tea and recalling some stories! 🏏

🚨Top 10 Bowlers🚨
As we’ve already previously revealed our number 1 bowler we thought our No. 2 deserved his own spot!!

So in 2nd place another club legend Andrew “crazy legs, Booey” Boocock. Andrew took 795 wickets in a career spanning 32 seasons at SBCI. He was taken from us far too early 😢 but he was one of the finest cricketers a lot of us ever had the honour of taking the field with. A true gentleman of the game, always gave everything on the field and never let you down. He had huge hands and took some fine catches at first slip. He’s a constant in our thoughts and will always be missed. ♥️

🚨Top 10 Batters🚨
As we creep into the top 4 we have more surnames that you will all recognise and associate with the history of the club. At 4 we have Michael (Mick, Woody) Wood who scored 10768 runs across his 48 seasons with the club (still time to make an appearance this year!). Mick has appeared in both the Parish Cup (1979) and Crossley Shield final (2016), captained the 1st team to a league title in 1987 whilst winning a league wicket keeping prize in 1991, the Maude Trophy in 2000 and the Barbara Smith Rose bowl in 2007. Mick continues to put an inordinate amount of work into the club ensuring the playing surface and surrounding area remains top drawer.

At 3 we have Thomas (Tommy, T) Wood who’s just passed his Dad and Brother with 10869 runs, with nearly 10000 coming in the 1st team. Thomas has also taken 534 wickets putting him in that elite all rounder bracket. He’s played in 4 Parish Cup finals (2008, 2010, 2012, 2025) more than any other player in the clubs history) wining the competition twice. He won the T20 trophy as captain in 2015, as well as the 1st XI league fielding prize twice (05,07).

And in 2nd we have Jamie “Jimbob, Stabbings” Summerscales, records seem to follow Jamie round at the club. He’s scored 11659 runs for the club, over 11000 first team runs (1st), a highest score of 224* (1st), a highest partnership of 318 (1st), 23 100’s (1st) and 70 50’s (1st). He’s played in 3 Parish cup finals winning 2, captained the first team to a league win in 2011, won the first team league batting prize in 2001 and the Ronnie Wolfenden Trophy in 2012 (1052 runs) all whilst spending two spells away from the club.

🚨Top 10 Bowlers🚨
In 5th we have John “Jhicky” Hickey, made his debut in 1975 and played 24 seasons taking 714 wickets, sporting a p**n star tache he flew down the hill at the stute at a fearsome pace. No one ever stole his boots as he used to cut the toe out of one of them to stop him bruising it!

At 4 comes another lad still playing for the club after making his senior debut in 1996. Matthew (Keasty) Keast has taken 744 senior wickets and is another true genuine allrounder, having also scored 5700 runs (20th). He’s played in two Crossley Shield finals, being part of the 2023 winning team and picking up the league fielding prize the same year. He’s been vice captain of the 2’s for many a year and also captained the Sunday team for a spell. Heis Mr Reliable.

At 3 we have the clubs most successful “slow” bowler, Ben “Benjos” Summerscales took 773 wickets for the club in 24 seasons. 719 of those came in the 1st team and only one other bowler has more first team wickets than him. He captained the side in 2 Parish cup finals (08,10) winning the 2010 final. He claimed 2 1st XI bowling prizes in his career (96,98) alongside 42 five wicket hauls. He also played in the 2016 Crossley shield final, representing the 2nd XI.

🚨Top 10 Batters🚨
In 7th spot we have Phil “Fingers” Dalby. Phil scored 9168 runs across 32 seasons with the club. He captained the 2nd team to its first Crossley Shield final in 1986, as well as twice winning the Calder Valley Cup (79,87) and Ernest Clay Trophy (87,90) as 2nd team captain. He can still often be seen sat upon his beloved roller trying to make life even easier for the modern batter (his son!). Our records in the 80’s are a bit sketchy for the 2’s and I have no doubt Phil passed the 10,000 run mark for the club.

In 6th we have Chris “Dollars” Dalby, still playing for the 1st XI Chris has scored 9229 for the club (in 3 spells) since making his senior debut in 1993. Chris played in the Parish Cup final in 2008 & 2025 and helped the 2nd team to its first Crossley Shield victory in 2023 top scoring with 41 on the day.

In 5th we have the first of 3 Woods, Simon “Woody” Wood, describes himself as a wicket keeper batsman and has 10349 runs to his name. Not bad for a stumper! This alongside 2 Parish cup final appearances, winning the Lindley Moor trophy as 1st team Captain, a league batting prize in 2007 and 14 league wicket keeping prizes (inc the Laurie Plumbe award 5 times) makes him our most successful wicket keeper of all time.

🚨Top 10 Bowlers🚨
In 8th spot we have Stuart “Sandy” Sanderson, Sandy played for 17 seasons taking 576 wickets. He captained the second team in that spell and was a formidable left arm bowler, usually wearing his signature glasses and white headband!

In 7th we had the younger Benson brother Ollie “OB” Benson. He took 578 wickets across 17 seasons before moving to the warmer climate of Australia! OB played in 2 Parish cup finals, winning it in 2012 and also played in the Crossley Shield final in 2016, he also won the league bowling prize the same year.

In 6th we have Robin “Rob” Hanson who has taken 605 wickets since debut in 2001. He won the 2nd XI league bowling prize in 2002 and played in 2 Parish Cup finals, winning both! Rob is still playing regularly but is known more for his batting these days!

In 10th spot we have Craig “Trot” Potts, scoring 7655 runs across 24 seasons with the club, he played in 3 Parish Cup finals and was on the winning side twice. He also led the club to its second Crossley Shield final since 1986.

In 9th we have John “Greeny” Greenwood scoring 8870 runs and is still playing regularly for the club. He’s played in 2 Crossley shield finals , but has he ever won the Crossley Shield we hear you ask? Well the answer is yes. All in all 2023 was a good year, seeing him collect the league wicket keeping prize too.

And in 8th we have Martyn “Summers” Summerscales who played for 27 seasons at the club scoring 9160 runs. Martyn captained both the 1st and 2nd team, leading the 2nd team to the league title in the 2007 season. He is still an active member of the clubs committee and can be often seen at games, mood always dependant on the teams performance (or so Jamie tells us!!).
