Whoosh Mountain Biking

Share

Friendly, approachable Mountain Bike Guiding and Skills Instruction in Calderdale and across the North of England for beginners and experienced shredders.

Whoosh was established in 2013 with the simple aim of sharing my passion for biking and helping more people get active and hooked on the buzz of a good ride out. The logical progression was to deliver Mountain Bike rides and instruction as well as the National Standard/Bikeability training and on-road rides that I started with. Off-road riding provides thrills, challenge and a sense of achievement

Kilnhurst Weir Improvements 24/02/2023

Anyone who's used the Rochdale Canal around Hebden Bridge and Todmorden, whether just getting around or linking up the trails, will have experienced the 'fun' of these weir crossings. They may be no challenge on 2.6" Magic Mary's, but aren't accessible to folks on skinnier tyres, or in wheelchairs, or on trikes/cargo bikes or who simply aren't confident when the gaps between setts are nearly as big as the setts themselves. And sometimes you just don't want a wet arse

They're finally looking at improving them so please make sure they do it properly and feed in to the consultation here:

Kilnhurst Weir Improvements What is the project? Calderdale Council have been working with the Canal & River Trust and their partners Arcadis to investigate Kilnhurst Weir which is part of the Rochdale Canal. The weirs on the Rochdale Canal make up a small part of the canal towpath, which are

It's been a long old time coming but as they say, pints of Guinness come to those who wait!!

TRAIL ACCESS WIN!

Norland Moor news: it's been a long time coming, but the council have agreed to remove the bylaw prohibiting cycling there, effective immediately.

There will also be a new action plan for the moor and annual user surveys. Next time you're riding there, enjoy knowing that you've got every right to be there.

Goals.

Still riding North Shore in her 70s Back in 1993 Betty Birrell had a go at mountain biking. She was 45 years old. Now she's 73 and can still more than hold her own on some of the most demanding bike terrain there is.

Yes , this is so good!

How can we let languish without any built facilities of this type - totally at odds with its reputation as a riding destination and stated aims to get people active. Time we step up, but we’ll need your help . Rider-managed permissive trails also badly needed!

Yes please!

Far fetched but worth a try…

BHS members and supporters may be interested to hear about a government petition which calls for footpaths, off-road cycle routes, and bridleways to be de-restricted and turned into public rights of way accessible to pedestrians, horses, and bicycles.

These proposed changes aim to reduce the amount of time that horse riders spend on potentially dangerous public highways. Should the petition reach 10,000 supporters then a formal response from the government would be required.

The petition can be found here: https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/610936
