ONE SPACE AVAILABLE — 3YO SHOWJUMPER FOR 2027

I have space to take on one additional three-year-old this autumn/winter to produce towards the 2027 season.

The aim will be to carefully develop the horse through backing, early schooling and its first shows, with the goal of arriving at the Young Horse Jumping Championships at Hickstead in August educated, confident and ready for the occasion.

This isn’t about rushing a young horse to get it jumping big fences. It’s about building the rideability, confidence and understanding that allows a talented horse to develop properly — and hopefully still be improving when the important shows arrive.

I’m particularly interested in a quality, athletic three-year-old with genuine potential for the sport.

Produced by a 4 star International Showjumper, UKCC Level 3 Show Jumping Coach and BHS Accredited Professional Coach, with a particular focus on developing confidence in young horses.

Based in Halifax, West Yorkshire.

If you have a three-year-old you’d like produced with a clear plan towards Hickstead next August, send me a message with some details and videos.

What a way to finish the week for Dennis.

Clear in the championship this morning to make it through to the final 23, before jumping what was comfortably the biggest and most challenging track he’s ever seen.

A proper 1.10m championship course — and this little four-year-old has virtually no experience at this height.

One fence down in the final, but honestly, I couldn’t have asked him to jump any better.

This week was never really about where he finished on a results sheet. I wanted to find out how he’d cope with a championship environment, jumping day after day and being asked progressively bigger questions.

He’s answered every one of them.

Very, very proud of this horse.

Five months ago Cici had five fences down in a 55cm class.

Today I found myself disappointed because she had one fence down at the Young Horse Championships.

Sometimes you need to remind yourself how far they’ve actually come.

She’s four. She’s still learning about balance, about her body, about different rings and different questions. Today she came around one corner without quite the balance she needed and had a fence down.

But she jumped another really good round.

Five months ago we were trying to get around 55cm.

Five months later we’re here.

I think I’ll take that.

First day at the Young Horse Championships and Dennis (I’m Special Jubilee) starts the week with a clear in his qualifier.

Really pleased with how he handled everything today. With the young horses I’m always interested in a lot more than just whether the poles stay up… how they cope with the atmosphere, how rideable they are in the ring and whether they’re learning every time they go in.

Dennis answered all of those questions pretty well today.

One clear down. Roll on tomorrow!
