Gymfinity Beth Tweddle Invitational Competition

Representatives from Harlow Gymnastics joined Gymfinity Kids for an unforgettable weekend of gymnastics at the Beth Tweddle Invitational Competition in New College, Leicester.

The six gymnasts performed beautifully in their competitions and had the opportunity to meet and be presented with their awards from Tweddle herself.

Beth Tweddle retired from competitive gymnastics as the first female gymnast from Great Britain to win a medal at the European Championships, World Championships, and Olympic Games, along with myriad other prestigious awards. Following on from her retirement, she won the eighth series of Dancing on Ice and has undertaken a variety of media and sporting work.

Lexi shone in the Level 6 - 2016/17 event with the overall trophy along with a trio of gold medals for vault, trampette and floor. Minnie finished narrowly behind, accomplishing the overall silver medal and silver medal on floor, with teammate Skylah awarded the silver medal on trampette in the same event.

Further medal joy in the Level 6 – 2015 event where Ella triumphed with the overall trophy and a trio of golds medals for vault, trampette and floor. Teammate Jess captured the silver overall medal after earning a duo of silver medals for floor and trampette along with bronze on vault.

Not to be outdone, Darcy also secured a clean sweep in Level 6 - 2013/2014 event, achieving the overall trophy and a trio of gold medals for vault, trampette and floor.

To top off this fantastic day, the Harlow Gymnastics sixsome squad were awarded the Beth Tweddle special recognition trophy for their amazing sportsmanship. On giving the award Beth said “since I’ve retired from gymnastics, I’ve realised how many skills gymnastics has taught me…and they are lifelong skills, whether it’s determination, whether it’s respect. We love to teach gymnastics but what we are also teaching children are skills that they can take away for a lifetime. This award is based on that...and I found that the Harlow gymnastics teamwork was unreal to the point that they stopped me midsentence so they could support their teammate.”

Coach Grace reiterated: “they cheered each other on the whole way and were so supportive. I’m so proud of them”

Smiles and success for the youngest squad at Harlow Gymnastics club, competing against up-and-coming stars from elite clubs, in the GK spring-loaded junior competitions at Salto Gymnastics club. This was the first competition for many of the gymnasts and they rose to the challenge by performing with perfection.

Georgie N and Darcey-Rae J shone in the Level 10 2018 event. Georgie was triumphant with the overall trophy and gold medal with Darcey-Rae narrowly behind conquering the overall silver medal. The pair lit up the podium with Georgie capturing a duo of gold for vault and floor, as well as silver for bars and beam. Darcey-Rae collected a duo of gold for bars and beam, and silver on vault.

Royah A sparkled in the level 9 2019 event achieving the overall trophy and gold medal, along with gold on floor and a duo of silver for vault and bars.

In the level 9 2016 event, Katherine S gleamed with the overall silver after securing gold on floor, silver on bars and bronze on vault.

Grace W shimmered with the level 9 2018 JNR overall bronze medal after scooping gold on floor and silver on vault.

Competing in the biggest group of the event, and only 1 mark off the top score, Dolly G dazzled with the overall silver medal as well as silver medal on bars in the Level 10 2019 JNR. Teammates Clara A twinkled with the silver medal on beam and Robyn B glimmered with the gold medal on bars and bronze on vault in the same event.

Coach Lucy said: “The Harlow gymnasts looked fantastically presented and really performed their very best. I’m incredibly proud of their determination and team spirit throughout the competition.”
