As we hit 2023, I have had the pleasure of being asked to lead the S&C programme for the Yorkshire Rugby Academy U16's - can't wait get started.
Alongside working with the amazing students at Ashville College and Tony at Beckwithshaw Saints, focusing on speed development and functional movement skills, it looks like this year is starting well.

Yoga for men continues in to the new year. If you are looking to improve your flexibility and range of motion come along on a Wednesday 7pm for 45 minutes of yoga. All abilities welcome so don't worry if you can't touch your toes, most of us can't, yet.

Spaces are filling up with only a few days before we start the new class at Ashville Sports Centre, Yew Tree Lane, Harrogate.
If you are like myself who has probably not spent enough time stretching after a match, bike ride or run this could be for you.
Based on Yin Yoga this class focuses on longer holds to work the connective tissue and muscle fascia.
Muscles are designed to lengthen, shorten, twist, and turn. When all of your muscles make all of these movements, you are both flexible and strong.
Strength, explosiveness, and ease of movement originate from a muscle shortening to its maximum and then lengthening with power as you move. When a muscle doesn’t allow you to do this you become stiff, inflexible, and weak.
Each class is 45 minutes and costs £8, you can book a block of 6 weeks or PAYG.

If your 100 year old self were to give you any advice it would probably to maintain your mobility. As we age we lose elasticity and our posterior chain becomes weak with more risk of injury.
Most of us make a token effort to stretch at the end of a workout or we sit sedentary at work or in a car. Over time our muscles tighten and our posture is affected. If you want to maintain or improve your flexibility for cycling, running or just every day tasks you need to address it.
I am starting a yoga class targeted at men beginning November 10th for 6 weeks, £8 a session, aimed at all of us who struggle to touch our toes or feel they need a bit more.
