Annual hockey tournament at Harrogate Hockey Club The 11-a-side festival takes place in May each year and we celebrate the 50th anniversary in 2022.
The weekend starts with a curry and a band playing live music on the Friday evening with dancing until 1.00am, or longer for those with the stamina to take the party into town. On Saturday having made your way to Harrogate Hockey Club, the bar will be open for your liquid refreshment, (soft drinks are available!). Buzz Coffee Van and Cozy Pizza providing catering, available all day, and of course
the small matter of a men's and ladies hockey tournament. In the evening after a quick wash and brush up at your hotel, you make your way to Rossett Sports Centre for a meal provided by Spitting Pig Yorkshire and as much dancing and drinking as your old legs and liver can take. Sunday is more relaxed as the previous 2 evenings fun start to take their toll. The bar and catering though are of course still open for the more hardy soles and there is the small matter of dragging the aching bodies around the hockey pitch for the final round of games. The weekend finishes with presentations for the Men's and Ladies Tournament winners, the Most Social Team, the best men's and ladies player and of course the dreaded wooden spoon...
A drive back, a long soak in the bath and the next week off work to recover cap a fantastic weekend for all. Numbers are limited to 6 mens and 6 ladies teams so if you are interested please apply early.. For those that interested in the rules:
Men - The total age on the pitch is a minimum of 440 years, with no more than 2 players between 35 and 40 years old. Ladies - The total age on the pitch is a minimum of 385 years with no more than 2 players between 35 and 40 years old.
