Some days are just harder than others. Nursing a back spasm meant breathing and pace was tricky. It was just about time on feet today and although I thought I’d be stopping about 5km I managed to hang on for the duration. Legs definitely a bit tired form two fast runs thurs/fri. But still on schedule and expected times keep dropping.

Part of our conditioning is to do@the Dalby Inferno at the beginning of June. It requires us to run 5.5km every hour on the hour for ten hours. 55km in total. As well as building up for a half marathon and duathlon two to three weeks prior we will be doing some back to back runs. Both on consecutive days at first and then slightly shorter but back to back on the same day nearer the time. Today’s run was the slowest I’ve managed so far and heart rate slightly better than usual. Still not slow enough.

Claire had a bug this week and a PB after a week of not running was amazing way to get back to it. Long run tomorrow. ring

When you are aiming beyond a half marathon it’s essential to be able to access your fat stores for energy. Your Glycogen stores will run out otherwise due to the duration and you will hit wha known as the wall. In order to get good at utilising your da as energy the base training phase requires you to learn to run at a lower heat rate as an increased rate will burn glycogen faster. Depleting quicker. It’s the base training for all aerobics work. My bodies systems are trained for high glycolic work and not for fat burning. Retraining a lifetimes worth of foundation. Not fun but essential. Video incoming shortly also discussing why a show rotation is essential.

Running slow to build endurance is essential. Keep heart rate down to grow that base for future runs. This is the patient stage. Fun begins soon.

Sundays are supposed to be like this. Borrowed the neighbours dog for the pic 😉 but sole@runs are just kit going feels great. Getting them done anyway is the key. Warm up, ease in and do it without question. Well done to everyone who’s managed to get their bit done this week gone. Sam next week people.

Ok… something else to add. Got suckered into this challenge this week and swiftly entered. Should coincide nicely with having finished the half marathon and Duathon. My partner in crime is als booked in

Holding myself to account. Wet, cold, icy and no excuses. After a morning of outraging a Hyroxsikulation at I had no excuse but to put some work in today and stick to the plan. A sensible session. Legs feeling less like we don’t belong. 😁

Wishing everyone a very happy and healthy 2026! May all your hard work pay off. Small steps soon add up so it’s not about big steps. Consistency, discipline to stay the course as you planned are key. Don’t be put off by the obstacles. They are blobs in time as you go. Lots of love and happiness to you all xx

Nothing worth while comes easy…. Claire’s first ever 10km. Sunday morning, it’s 3 degrees and 12000 people to get you through it. Couple of asthma scares on route but perseverance and a well deserved time for the first run.

The fitness challenges have been booked in and will come thick and fast next year. With long term goals also in the bag.

As with the iRed bull 400 in Innsbruck I’m super proud of for taking on this journey of self discipline and mental development. Every completed event is earned through hours of training and planning.

Bring on 2026 the year of achieving lots of personal goals

We look like we should be fast but the numbers say different. First ever park run and Claire’s first 5km in about 5 years.

…. Over 6 years apart since I last tackled this event in Courchevel. Lots has happened and to complete it again was a huge sense of achievement. The goal now is to do it again BETTER. Lots better. My beautiful wife also did the race for the first time after a series of her challenges over the past 5 years including acl reconstruction., having a child and flu two weeks before the event. But we did it and know there’s more. So from now on the page will be plastered full of challenges we will conquer over the coming years. All the training we do and obstacles we have to get over. Here’s to more that’s yet to come..
