Amelia Wilbourn - Balanced Awareness for Horse and Rider

Amelia Wilbourn - Balanced Awareness for Horse and Rider A unique opportunity for riders of all levels to develop their skills. The trotting simulator with 3 speeds and the canter/gallop with 5 speeds.

My Mechanical Horses are in a purpose built workshop enabling riders of all abilities to develop their position. "Sir Trotalot" helps riders to develop both sitting and rising trot. "Gallopy" helps riders develop their canter seat, light seat and jumping position. Posture assessments both on and off horse with the help of mirrors, Pilates exercises, bands and weights allow riders to know how to make long lasting changes.

šŸ– "Light Hands" šŸ‘‹
As a human being our instinct is to use our hands for balance and stability - for example if we trip or stumble.
As a rider we need to develop our core, balance and stability to enable us to have light, independent hands.
In these photos we have been working on the arms being able to move freely forward holding light weights whilst maintaining balance and stability through the torso.

• Your tailbone should point where you want your Horse’s tailbone to point.
• Your chest should point where you want your Horse’s chest to point.
• Stepping into the inside of the bend helps the horse rotate correctly through the rib cage.
• Straight line from elbow to the bit whether you are looking from the side or from above.

This is how we shape all the movements from circles to leg yield to halfpass.

Day 3 of the RWYM Clinic.
Perry has a wonderful attitude and is always ready build on our previous sessions. Today's focus was connecting my thighs to his thighs and keeping his stifles under his hips resulting in more flow through his top line. He's such a fun horse with a big heart. This is the 4th year I have ridden Perry in Mary's clinics and we have come a long way from a tense horse who got stuck in a stress Passage or Spanish Walk! He now feels more part of the process and enjoys exploring good movement. I feel very lucky

Day 2 RWYM Clinic Mary had me focusing on the back of my ribs and diaphragm magically connecting to Perrys lumbar area. This resulted in him feeling more connected through his back, able to lift and open up his shoulders, lengthen through his neck amd allow my hands to be more out in front.
As always Perry has such a wonderful attitude and I think is enjoying exploring how his body moves.

Last weekend Perry and I went to a RWYM clinic with Mary Wanless. The clinic is 3 days focusing on the combination of horse and rider anatomy and biomechanics. Perry was fabulous and each day we gained new insights and have come home feeling inspired with lots to process āœØļø
Day 1 - Perry has a tendency to drop his chest, shorten his neck, rush and still look very handsome! Mary had me focusing on bringing Perrys forelegs back towards him and the top of his shoulder blades going forward allowing space to lift up through the wither. I was feeling a connection from my back with a light forward feel through my arms and out through the reins. We had some lovely rhythmical trot work in a slower tempo and Perry feeling happy to explore the process.

We were working on improving the canter and jump seat with the help of my trusty 'Gallopy'.
