The Road to Gold at 🏆
48 teams entered DCO, but only 3 could walk away with the trophy. Here is the journey each of our Champions took on their road to glory.
Lutterworth Meteors ☄️
Meteors found themselves in the Group of Death, with Boston Anarchy, Second Wind and Dark Dogs. They stormed through the Group Stage, dropping only 9 set points and handing Anarchy their first lost this year! From there, the Meteor engine was in full force; they eased past the Knockout Stage. Once at the Grand Finals, they faced Anarchy once more. What was an even fight for the first 5 sets, turned into a one sided affair as the ESL Champions got up to gear. Meteors lifted the trophy and continued to cement themselves in English dodgeball history.
Silly Geese 🪿
The Geese started their event even stronger, dropping only 7 set points in the Group Stage against Wessex Wolves, Crayons DC and Young & Fun combined! The Geese were unstoppable as they entered the Knockouts Stage as their raw talent was too much for teams to handle - they progressed to the Finals against Young & Fun. Despite Abbie Gower going down with an injury in the second half, the Geese were triumphant yet again, raising the trophy as the first DCO Women’s Champions.
Next Gen 🔱
Next Gen found themselves in the Group of Death, against Lutterworth Meteors, Leicester Legends and their big sister, Young & Fun. They started with a loss against Young & Fun but they earned hard fought victories against Meteors and Legends. From hear they pushed passed the R16 and QFs where they played Shot Stars in a tense Semi-Final. They face off against their more experienced counterparts in the Finals, All Stars; whilst the first half was close, Next Gen made a statement and stormed away, winning the Grand Finals!
All 3 teams faced different paths on their road to gold, but all 3 teams leave having left their mark in DC history!
