🌿 Thank a Greenkeeper Day ⛳

Today is a chance to recognise the people who work behind the scenes to keep Hartlepool Golf Club looking its best and ready for play.

From maintaining our greens and fairways to managing the challenges that come with a coastal course, our greenkeeping team put in countless hours throughout the year — often before most of us have even arrived at the Club.

Their work can sometimes go unnoticed, but it makes a huge difference to the experience we enjoy every time we step onto the course.

So today, we’d simply like to say:
Thank you to our greenkeeping team. 👏

We’re fortunate to have such a dedicated team looking after Hartlepool.

⛳ Two of the toughest tee shots at Hartlepool Golf Club

If you’ve played Hartlepool, you’ll know that some of the tee shots require a little more thought than others.

8th Hole 🌊

Played from a raised tee in the sandhills, the 8th offers spectacular views across the course and along the natural coastline. It’s a dogleg that requires a good carry and a well-struck tee shot. Find the rough and you’ll quickly discover why this is one of the course’s toughest tests.

14th Hole ⛳

Another challenging tee shot from an elevated position. The key is length and accuracy — a long, straight drive is needed to avoid a difficult blind second into the dogleg. With out of bounds along the shoreline to the left and deep, sloping rough to the right, there’s very little room for error.

Two very different holes, but both demand a confident tee shot.

🏆 Junior Championship Round-Up! 🏆

A few photos from this weekend’s Junior Championship at Hartlepool Golf Club 📸⛳️

👏 Congratulations to Theo Bell, who came out on top to claim the Gross Championship with an excellent score of 75!

🏅 Our Nett Champion was Jude Boagey, who carded a fantastic 66 to win on countback from Alex Campbell — and finished just one shot away from the Gross prize too! 👏🔥

Well done to everyone who took part. It’s fantastic to see such a buzzing junior section at Hartlepool, with so many young golfers getting out there, competing and enjoying their golf. 🙌

⛳ Our 6th is a hole that demands precision from tee to green.

The tee shot is played blind over a mound covered in bent grass, with only a tight fairway waiting on the other side. Trouble looms on all sides, and even a tee shot that travels too far can leave you heavily penalised.

Then comes the approach. The green sits on top of a rise, falling from back to front, with deep bunkering guarding the right and a small splash bunker protecting the left.

A hole where placement beats power. Get your tee shot and approach right, and you’ll have given yourself a great chance of a good score.
