๐๐ Learn to Swim Week โ Day 7: Open Water Swimming ๐๐
Swimming outdoors can be an amazing experience but open water is very different from the swimming pool ๐โโ๏ธ๐
From changing weather conditions to currents, cold water, and visibility, itโs so important to be prepared before entering the water.
Remember to:
๐๏ธ Know your beach and water safety flags
๐ฆ๏ธ Check weather and water conditions
๐ Tell someone where youโre going and when youโll be back
๐ฆบ Wear bright colours and take something buoyant with you
๐ In an emergency, call 999 never put yourself at risk by entering the water
At Swimkidz, we believe water safety education is just as important as learning to swim. Confidence in the water starts with understanding how to stay safe in different environments ๐

๐๐ Learn to Swim Week โ Day 6: First Aid Myth Busting ๐๐
Thereโs a lot of first aid advice out thereโฆ but not all of it is correct ๐
From nosebleeds to burns, water incidents to suspected spinal injuries, knowing the right thing to do in an emergency can make a huge difference. Thatโs why learning basic first aid and water safety knowledge is so important for parents, carers, and swimmers alike.
Today weโre busting some common myths and sharing safer, up-to-date advice to help keep everyone safer in and out the water ๐ฉน๐ซง
Because water confidence isnโt just about swimming, itโs also about knowing how to respond in an emergency ๐

๐๐ Learn to Swim Week โ Day 5: Training More Teachers ๐๐
Did you know there is a national shortage of swimming teachers? ๐โโ๏ธ Thatโs why itโs more important than ever to train, support and grow passionate people who can help keep children safe and confident in the water.
We are incredibly proud of our incredible team. They pour so much passion, knowledge, patience and planning into every single lesson. Teaching swimming isnโt just a job for them, itโs something they genuinely care about ๐
Being part of the Swimkidz team is so much more than teaching children to swim. Itโs about:
โจ Being part of a fun, supportive team
๐ Teaching the most valuable life skill
๐ค Building trust with children and their families
๐ Creating strong relationships with parents and little ones
๐โโ๏ธ Watching swimmers grow from birth to advanced level
โญ Having one of the most rewarding jobs out there

๐๐ Learn to Swim Week โ Day 4: Swimming Around the World ๐๐
Did you know beach flags tend to be similar but arenโt always exactly the same everywhere in the world? ๐๏ธ
Beach flag systems are generally consistent worldwide, especially for key colours,
but always check local signs when abroad. While many countries use flags to help keep swimmers safe, the meanings can vary depending on where you are so itโs really important to always check the local system before entering the water.
Thatโs why one of the most important water safety skills we teach is awareness. helping swimmers understand that safety signs and signals can change from place to place ๐๐
Before you swim anywhere in the world, always look for local safety information and flags. Theyโre there to help keep you safe ๐

๐ถ๐ Learn To Swim Week Day 3 - Baby swimming & The Importance of Play ๐๐ถ
In our very first lessons, we gently introduce parents and little ones to how to play in the water in a calm, positive and reassuring way ๐ From there, play becomes a key part of every stage of learning right through to our most advanced swimmers.
Play isnโt โjust funโ, itโs fundamental to a childโs development ๐ง Through play, babies and children build confidence, coordination, water awareness, and trust in the waterโฆ and letโs be honest, we all learn better when weโre having fun! ๐
Thatโs why our lessons are filled with songs, games and activities carefully designed for each age and milestone, helping little ones get the very most out of every session while learning essential water skills without even realising it.
Because in the water, play is learning ๐๐ซง

๐ Learn to Swim Week โ Day 2 ๐
Today weโre focusing on one of the most important things you can learn: understanding the water and how to stay safe in and around it ๐
Swimming lessons arenโt only about learning front crawl backstroke and breaststoke, theyโre about learning how water works, how our bodies move through it, and how to stay calm and confident in different situations.
One of the most important parts of our teaching is personal survival skills ๐
These are built into every stage of learning. From our tiniest babies right through to our most advanced swimmers. That means children are learning how to float, regain breath, and stay safe in the water from their very first lessons, and continuing to develop those skills as they grow. Learning the water safety code is part of our structured program!
Because real confidence in the water isnโt just about swimming wellโฆ itโs about knowing what to do if things donโt go to plan.

๐ Learn to Swim Week โ Day 1 ๐
Today weโre celebrating how swimming supports wellbeing and mindfulness ๐
Swimming is more than just a life skill, it helps you to feel calm, confident, and happy while creating special moments in the water. From reducing stress to improving sleep and encouraging mindfulness, time spent swimming benefits both body and mind.
Thereโs something truly special about switching off from busy routines and simply enjoying the water ๐ซงโจ
At Swimkidz our teachers are highly trained..
Maybe not as highly trained as some students think.
Why we recommend splashabout! Our very own Swimkidz nappies are splashabout because they really are the best!
One of these with our award winning under nappies is all your baby needs to start swimming lessons.
