The big one is almost here! 🔥

This Saturday, 12 September, Hastings Rowing Club heads to Deal, Kent, for the 69th South Coast Rowing Championships.

It’s one of the biggest days in the coastal rowing calendar, bringing crews together from across the South Coast — and Hastings will be there ready to give it everything on the water! 🌊💪

Fancy trying something completely different?

Hastings Rowing Club is opening its doors!

📅 Sunday 27 September
🕙 10am–2pm

📅 Monday 28 September
🕙 4pm–7pm

📍 Hastings Rowing Club – next to Hastings Pier

We're looking for new people aged 13+ who would like to discover coastal rowing.

You don't need to have rowed before. You don't need to know what a stroke side is, what a cox does or even which way round the boat goes! 😂

Just come along, meet us, see the boats, have a look around the club and find out what coastal rowing is all about.

🚣 Complete beginners

Following the Open Day, we're planning a Learn to Row programme with limited spaces, leading towards building new crews for the 2027 season.

🐉🚣‍♀️ Our first ever Dragon Boat Race! ❤️💛

What a day! We had the flying tent, plenty of rain, and all the elements you’d expect from a proper coastal rowing club! 😂🌧️💨 But we took it all in our stride and had an absolute blast.

With 13 HRC rowers in the boat, we battled our way to 11th place — not bad at all for our first ever dragon boat race! 💪🔥

It was fantastic to see so many people interested and getting involved. So many laughs, great team spirit and a brilliant event from start to finish.

A huge thank you to our Vice Captain Kim Webb for organising it all! ❤️💛

❤️💛❤️ Remembering Alan 🚣

Tomorrow, Sunday 23 August, members of Hastings Rowing Club will be down at the club from around 10:30am, with the Ashes boat afloat at 11:00am.

Afterwards, we’ll have a relaxed picnic at the club as a small remembrance of our dear friend Alan.

There’s nothing formal planned — just an opportunity for friends, teammates and club members to come together, have something to eat and drink, and share a few memories of Alan.

If you’d like to join us, bring along a picnic and something to drink and come and spend some time with the HRC family. ❤️💛❤️

🌊 Deal Regatta – 8 August 2026 🌊

Two weeks ago, Hastings Rowing Club headed to Deal for another brilliant day of coastal rowing.

What a fantastic regatta from Deal Rowing Club! We really enjoyed the double turns on the course — brilliantly executed and making for some exciting racing throughout the day. It was exactly what we'd expect from the club that will be hosting the South Coast Championships in September. We’re already looking forward to coming back! 👏🌊

A huge thank you to the whole Hastings Rowing Club team for another great day out. From getting the boats loaded and unloaded to helping crews get ready, race and recover, there is always a lot happening behind the scenes.

Special thanks to our Captain Vicky Kidd and Vice Captain Kim Webb for keeping everything organised on the day, and to our Regatta Secretary Colin Chatfield for managing all the entries and making sure our crews were on the start line.

🌊 Herne Bay Regatta 2026 🌊

Last Saturday, Hastings Rowing Club travelled to Herne Bay Regatta for another fantastic day of coastal rowing.

It was a well-organised, fast-paced regatta with some great racing throughout the day. A huge thank you to Herne Bay Rowing Club for hosting such an enjoyable event, and to all the volunteers, officials and supporters who helped make the day run so smoothly.

A massive thank you also goes to everyone from Hastings Rowing Club for all the hard work behind the scenes—from loading and unloading the boats to supporting our crews throughout the day. Special thanks to our Captain Vicky Kidd, Vice Captain Kim Webb for organising and running the day, and our Regatta Secretary Colin Chatfield for coordinating all of our race entries.

🌊 Shoreham Regatta 2026 🌊

The second stop of our double-regatta weekend took us just along the coast to Shoreham Rowing Club.

It was another fantastic day of racing with a brilliant atmosphere. There's always something special about having the beach taken over by rowers! A huge thank you to Shoreham Rowing Club for putting on another great regatta, and to all the volunteers and umpires who made the event possible.

A big thank you also goes to everyone from Hastings Rowing Club who helped throughout the weekend, especially our Captain and Vice Captain for all their hard work organising another successful race day.

An incredible achievement as they remain unbeaten this season and are now officially CARA South Coast Champions! Congratulations to an outstanding crew!

🌊 Worthing Regatta 2026 🌊

Our first stop on a busy double-regatta weekend took us to Worthing Rowing Club, where we enjoyed a fantastic day's racing.

A huge thank you to Worthing Rowing Club for hosting such a well-organised regatta. The seafront was absolutely buzzing with people, the weather was beautiful, and it was great to race in such a fantastic setting. We didn't manage to take as many photos as we'd have liked, but we made plenty of great memories!

A massive thank you also goes to all our members who raced and supported the club, and especially to our Captain and Vice Captain for all the hard work organising crews, transport and everything behind the scenes.

🚣‍♀️🚣‍♂️ Worthing Regatta – Let's Go! ❤️💛❤️

We're all set on the beach at Worthing! The boats are rigged, the trailer is unloaded, and we're proudly wearing our new Hastings Rowing Club t-shirts as we get ready for an exciting day of racing.

There's always something special about regatta days – catching up with rowing friends from clubs all along the South Coast, enjoying the fantastic atmosphere, and sharing the passion for our sport. It's brilliant to see the beach buzzing with crews, supporters and volunteers.

Now it's time to put the training into practice.
