At HDS, ballet sits at the heart of our training, but we love encouraging our dancers to explore different ways of moving too.
Ballet develops beautiful foundations through technique, posture, control, strength, musicality and attention to detail.
Modern encourages dancers to become more dynamic and versatile, developing coordination, rhythm, flexibility and the ability to move with energy and confidence.
Contemporary gives dancers space to explore. It develops creativity, expression and movement quality, while encouraging dancers to think beyond simply performing the steps.
Together, these styles create something really valuable.
A dancer who is technically strong and adaptable.
A dancer who can hear and respond to music.
A dancer who understands their body and how to use it in different ways.
And importantly, a dancer who can bring their own personality and artistry to their movement.
For us, it isn’t about learning as many dance styles as possible. It’s about giving our dancers rich, well rounded training that helps them become confident, creative and versatile dancers. 💜
