This mornings' activity involved Round Robin story telling, where Residents helped choose a theme for a story which was based on a cruise ship, and conjured up their own wacky characters and features. We had a shifty captain. Two hoity toity ladies, a burlesque dancer, a moody waitress, a cruise ship manager, a pirate, a doctor, a giraffe and a smokey smell. Amongst various happenings ,the captain takes the crew in the wrong direction, the smuggled giraffe nearly catches fire below deck, on arriving finally to shore, the captain is summoned by the guests to walk the plank There was much more besides and many chuckles with it.🚢🦒😄

🍁🎨Creativity was in full bloom at Oakwood Court yesterday as we welcomed Bolnore Village Primary School and Holy Trinity Primary School to celebrate Arts in Care Homes Day. From arty woodland walks to beautiful leaf printing, it was a fantastic day of learning, creativity and connecting the generations!

We had a creative and vibrant day at Oakwood Court. There was sunshine in the late September air and residents were full of energy and joy in music and movement today. There was rock and rolls moves
and lots of expressive dance vibes throughout. Everyone had fun just moving away to different music tracks and using different props. In the afternoon, Janice, Mary and Sheila produced some beautiful flower arrangements. There are definitely afew dark horses in there who know
a bit about floristry! 🎶🌷✂️🪻🌷🌼🌱

We're excited for our Arts in Care Homes celebrations tomorrow! Join us for a relaxed and creative morning, learning about leaf printing at a workshop led by professional artists, The Painted Ladies.

Today we tested our exercise and endurance skills in aid of World Alzheimers Day. Residents followed a walking route in the home to see how many laps they could do and challenged themselves to keep the balloon in the air for as long as
possible. A funding page has been set up for relatives and friends to donate in support of the resident's efforts. Everyone felt like they exercised themselves physically as well as mentally at the end and enjoyed some well earned chocolatey prizes !! Well done all, fabulous work!!

As we say goodbye to September and welcome the cosier months ahead, we're looking forward to another wonderful week at Oakwood Court! 🍂🍁

A special highlight this week is our Macmillan Coffee Morning on Friday 25th September from 10:30am ☕💚. We would love for family members, friends, and members of our local community to join us for coffee, cake, and good company, all while supporting the fantastic work of Macmillan Cancer Support. Every donation, big or small, will help make a difference.

As the days become cooler and the evenings draw in, we're embracing everything that makes this time of year so special.

A great opportunity for everyone to air their views, ask questions, share ideas and suggestions about the service they receive, and if course anything else they wish to discuss 🥰

This mornings activity was regional food tasting with historical origins 🧀🥧🍪🥛🤔😋
All the items were founded in England and residents were surprised at the history behind such well known foodstuffs!
Who knew Cheddar cheese was being produced in the 12th century or the Bakewell Tart came about due to a mistake by the chef!
Janice became my wonderful assistant handing round the samples and everyone enjoyed eating and learning at the same time 😋🤔🥰☺️
