Hard ground can place increased strain on the horse’s musculoskeletal system, particularly the structures responsible for supporting and stabilising the limb. One area of particular concern is the suspensory ligament.
When the ground is firm, there is less natural shock absorption on impact. This can increase the concussive forces travelling up the limb, potentially contributing to overload and increasing the risk of soft tissue injury—especially in horses undertaking regular work on hard surfaces.
🐴 But prevention and early intervention are key.
Veterinary physiotherapy can play an important role in supporting horses by:
✨ Assessing movement and identifying subtle asymmetries
✨ Monitoring muscle tension, strength and overall biomechanics
✨ Supporting flexibility and appropriate joint range of motion
✨ Helping to address compensatory movement patterns
✨ Creating an appropriate rehabilitation and strengthening programme following injury
Every horse, discipline and injury is different, which is why a tailored approach is so important. By working alongside your veterinary surgeon and wider professional team, veterinary physiotherapy can form an important part of maintaining musculoskeletal health and supporting rehabilitation.
As the ground becomes harder, remember to consider your horse’s workload, fitness, surface conditions and recovery. Sometimes the smallest changes can make a big difference. 💚
Listen to your horse. Assess the whole picture. Prioritise prevention as well as rehabilitation.

What is INDIBA radiofrequency and how can it help your horse?

It delivers a specific radiofrequency of 448 kHz through electrodes applied to the skin, with the goal of stimulating tissue repair, increasing blood flow, reducing pain, and promoting healing.

The radiofrequency energy causes ions and molecules within the tissues to move and interact, producing a gentle therapeutic effect that can include:
Increased local blood flow
Increased tissue temperature (depending on settings)
Enhanced cellular metabolism
Improved lymphatic drainage
Reduced muscle tension

How it might help an ‘injury’:
For a tendon or ligament injury, the goal is not to “heal” the tissue directly. Instead, INDIBA creates a biological environment that may support healing by:
Improving circulation to the area
Helping remove inflammatory by-products
Reducing pain and muscle guarding
stimulating cells involved in tissue repair

My horse has no injury will it still help?

The most exciting start to the week!

I am officially an FEI permitted therapist! This means I am able to treat at FEI events and have passed the FEI exam to say I am competent in the rules and regulations surrounding competition and stabling at events as well as the regulations surrounding what I can and can’t do as a therapist!

This has been a long time in the making and I am so immensely proud of everything I have achieved. Thank you to everyone who has made this possible and here’s to a very exciting summer!!

Welsh Masters 2026 🩶

To say I am proud would be an understatement. To all of my incredible riders/clients/horses you have exceeded all my expectations and made my week incredible. Treating some amazing horses who went on to jump mega rounds, grooming for my wonderful friend and watching her hard work pay off and spending time with people who I look up to within the equine world is honestly making my heart so full.

I love my job beyond words and cannot wait for everything to come. There are some very exciting things happening and could not be more excited to share soon! 👀
