Cyle Larin maintained his outstanding form with a brilliant brace in Southampton’s 4–1 victory over Bristol City.

Larin opened the scoring with a superb strike into the top corner, before Bristol City created several chances, Dom Ballard in particular unable to convert, leaving the visitors frustrated not to be level at half-time.

City pushed again after the break, but Larin struck for a second time from close range on the hour mark, taking his tally to eight goals in nine games across all competitions this season.

Saints added further goals to seal a commanding win.

Southampton climbed to 7th in the table. Had they not started the season on –4 points, they would now be sitting 2nd, behind the leaders only on goal difference.

MPs reject assisted‑dying proposals after tense Commons debate.

MPs have voted 286 to 270, a narrow majority of 16 to block proposals that would have legalised assisted dying in England and Wales, ending the latest push for reform.

The Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill would have allowed adults with fewer than six months to live to apply for help to end their own life under strict safeguards.

Emotional speeches were heard on both sides before the vote.

A similar bill progressed in the previous parliamentary session but later stalled in the House of Lords. Today’s decision closes the door on any short‑term change to assisted‑dying laws.

Primark to Launch Home Delivery Service Amid Rising Competition.

Primark has announced plans to introduce a home delivery service in the UK, four years after first stepping into e‑commerce.

The retailer has purchased a warehouse in Sheffield to support nationwide shipping, though no launch date has been confirmed.

The company said there is strong “opportunity for profitable growth” in home delivery, especially as it looks to boost performance following subdued sales during recent hot weather.

Retail analysts say Primark’s shift, after years of resisting home delivery, even through the pandemic, highlights mounting pressure from ultra‑fast‑fashion rivals like Shein, whose rapid online fulfilment has reshaped customer expectations.

The final planned weekend closure of the M3 Junction 9 roundabout takes place this weekend, running from 9pm Friday 11 September to 6am Monday 14 September 2026.

The M3 mainline remains open, but the roundabout and all Junction 9 slip roads will be shut while crews complete connections to the new roundabout and bridge structures.

Closures in place
A34 southbound from Bullington Cross
A34 northbound from J9 to Three Maids Hill, including the A33 northbound
A33 southbound from Cart and Horses
Easton Lane both directions at Easton Lane Roundabout
A272 both directions from Spitfire Roundabout (A31).

Drivers are urged to allow extra time, check conditions before travelling and follow signed diversions rather than satnav routes, which may direct traffic onto closed or unsuitable roads.

Additional restrictions
From Monday 14 September until late November, Easton Lane westbound towards Tesco will be reduced to one lane.
Separately, the M3 J9 northbound entry slip road remains closed until winter 2027, meaning no access to the northbound M3 from the roundabout.

National Highways warns that plans may change at short notice and advises checking their website before travelling. ******er

A 38 year old man from Luton has been successfully prosecuted after Swanmore Parish Council surveillance cameras captured him dumping rubbish from the boot of a vehicle in the New Road public car park on 24 October 2022.

The offender the registered owner of the vehicle failed to co‑operate with Wi******er City Council’s investigation for more than a year, only engaging when interviewed for an unrelated matter in March 2024.

The M27 Junction 10 improvement scheme reaches a key stage this month, with the first phase set to open to traffic from 14 September.

The upgrade marks a significant step in improving access to Fareham, Wickham and surrounding areas.

The initial opening includes:

New westbound off‑slip
New motorway underpass
Four new roundabouts
New local route connections

Officials say the phased approach will allow improved access while remaining works such as landscaping and footway completion continue safely.

A detailed plan of the new layout has been released to help drivers understand the updated routes and directions of travel.
