A little reward for my Monday Silver Swans who have been learning the Mirlitons dance from the Nutcracker, which many of us remember as the music from the advert for Cadbury Fruit and Nut!

First aid all updated for another 3 years. Hopefully I willl not need to put any of it into practice, but it’s always good to keep my knowledge up to date.

A fantastic evening watching Giselle with a group of Swans at The Phoenix Cinema, Falmouth. The whole cast was amazing, the corps de ballet so together, and those entrechat from Matthew Ball! 👌🩰

A really lovely morning at the Old Cattle Market with some of our established Swans, as well as a few new faces. Thank you for making the effort to attend on this beautiful sunny morning, and for participating with such enthusiasm. Your inner Swans from Swan Lake were beautiful 🤩. I think that we thoroughly embraced the idea from Angela Rippon’s Let’s Dance campaign about bringing the community together through dance, and its benefits on both our mental and physical health. It was great to have a coffee and catch up afterwards as well in the sunshine ☀️ ☕️. See you next week 👍🩰🦢☺️.

Would you like to improve your dance-life balance?
Research shows that 75% of the factors affecting quality of life and longevity are related to lifestyle, while only 25% are hereditary. This means that there is no excuse for not becoming more active whatever your age. Dance in particular can play a vital role in ensuring a longer and better quality of life.
Dance is also rated ahead of many other physical activities for it's health benefits. It is also a very social activity, so Silver Swans classes are a great way to meet new people with a passion and joy for life.
Why Silver Swans?
It will enhance your mobility, balance, posture, coordination, energy and cognitive function.
The class is taught by a specially trained RAD licensee with options for different abilities.
It is taught in a fun, supportive and social environment using inspiring music (eg. from Bridgerton, Downton Abbey and film music as well as classical music).
It follows a ballet class format, i.e. warm-up, barre, centre work and learning a dance.
Why not come along for a free taster as part of Angela Rippon's Let's Dance Initiative at the end of February to see if you would like to join a regular class?

Our classes resume next week after our Christmas break. Spaces are available in most classes so if you would like to sign up for a free taster session, just let me know. Our classes this term will be learning dances based on the Mirlitons from the Nutcracker, a part seated version of the Can Can, a waltz to Andre Rieu music and a Garland Waltz from the Sleeping Beauty. Why not give it a try? We are a very friendly group 🥰

A lovely last week of lessons as we break up for Christmas. Lots of working hard to remember our routines that we have been working on, followed by a catch up and refreshments. Some of us also enjoyed a trip to the cinema to watch the live broadcast of The Nutcracker live from the Royal Opera House, which was fantastic as usual. We are having a break now to enjoy the season and will be back with new exercises and dance routines in January to keep our brains active!

Our Wednesday Silver Swans have been having fun learning the clog dance from La Fille Mal Gardee for the last few weeks. It’s been great imagining we’ve been wearing clogs and not worrying too much about our turnout for a change 😉.
Our Thursday Swans have been learning a routine based on the Waltz of the Flowers from The Nutcracker and there are a few of us going to watch the live broadcast from the Royal Opera House next week to see if we recognise any steps.
It always feels Christmassy after seeing the Nutcracker in December 🎄🩰.
If you’d like to join our fun, friendly class, we have a few spaces in our Wednesday lunchtime and Thursday early evening classes in January. Just contact Teresa on 07779 505596 or email on [email protected].
