We were delighted to host our closest fencing neighbours, the lovely folks from St Albans Fencing Club, for the first of our Three Counties League matches of the year.

As ever, it was a tough and highly competitive fixture. The foil match went down to the wire, St Albans coming out on top 5:4. DFC’s epée trio (last season’s overall League winners) had a slightly more comfortable 6:3 victory.

A great start to the season for the club, winning the overall match 11:7.

Well done to all the Dacorum Fencing Club Dacorum Modern Pentathlon Club & East Region Pentathlon GB athletes that took part in the today. Plenty of good performances and positives. Our Three Musketeers celebrating victory in the Three Counties League Epée as inaugural winners of the Pam Price trophy, with coach Old Pentathlon (who coached most of them since pre-teens) and Pam Price, founder of our club and Honorary Chair, in who’s honour the trophy is named.

The 2019 Three Counties League ended for us with a visit from Milton Keynes Fencing Club last night. It was an exciting evening of fencing.

Dacorum came out on top, winning in both weapons and taking the match overall.

Foil - Dacorum 5 v MK 4
Epée - Dacorum 7 v MK 2

So the 2019 season ends with Dacorum winning the Three Counties epée League overall and, after some good results in foil as well, with one of our best all round results for years.

Roll on 2020.

No fencing on Thursday 24 October. If anyone needs a fencing fix this week St Albans Fencing Club also fence on Thursdays and will probably welcome any Dacorum visitors this week.

Our latest Three Counties League match was away to Luton yesterday. The match was won after a tight contest, both Foil and Epée teams winning 5:4. Well done all.
