What an incredible day it was on Sunday for our newly formed Henley Hawks U13s team 🦅
Going into this match, the players had only been together as a squad for a couple of months and, incredibly, this was the very first competitive match they had ever played together as a team. There were plenty of excitement as well as nerves before the first whistle, however once they stepped onto the court, the players stuck together as a team.
From the very beginning, there were some amazing passages of play. The girls worked hard to move the ball through court, support one another and put into practice what they have been working on in training.
The defensive end was on fire with some fantastic pressure, interceptions and determination to win the ball back. The team worked tirelessly to make life difficult for the opposition and their defensive efforts played a huge part in securing the win.
At the shooting end, the girls showed fantastic determination, going for every single rebound and never giving up when a shot didn’t quite go in. They kept fighting for possession and creating another opportunity, with some amazing shots scored throughout the game.
The final score was 32–10, but this match was about so much more than the result. It was about a brand-new group of players stepping onto a competitive court together for the very first time, supporting each other, learning, growing and beginning their journey as a team.
A huge congratulations to Issa and Libby, who were chosen by the coaches as the Players of the Match. As well Coralie and Issa who were voted as the Oppositions players of the match 👑
We are incredibly proud of every single player. This is only the beginning for this team, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for our Henley Hawks U13s!
