🔵⚪ ONE YEAR OF WESSINGTON U15s ⚪🔵
You don't have to have been playing football since you were six years old to fall in love with the game.
Sometimes, you just need the opportunity.
A year ago, there were plenty within the club who wondered whether there would really be enough interest to make an older age-group team work.
How wrong were we.
Rob and his fellow coaches believed there were young people out there who still wanted to play football — even if, until then, they had mainly just played in the playground with their friends.
Twelve months later, more than 20 players — most of them now in Year 10 — have had the chance to train, play and be part of a team.
They might not be making cup finals, but we hope they are making memories.
There have been difficult games, tough scorelines and plenty of lessons along the way, but that has never been the whole point. The friendships, the first goals, the first wins, the cold training nights, the away days and simply being part of something — those are the things that matter.
To help capture their story — and for a bit of fun — we asked the team to put together a short video looking back at their first year together.
We are incredibly proud of this team and hugely grateful to Rob, his fellow coaches, the parents and, most importantly, the players who keep turning up and giving it everything.
One year down. Plenty more memories still to make. 💙🤍
Fall in Love With the Game.
