Self-employed (i.e. largely self-funded) maternity leave starts now!

I saw my final coaching client (for now) earlier this week and I've been wrapping up the less interesting bits of bookkeeping and admin since then (along with last minute nesting/cleaning/hospital bag packing).

I'm honestly not sure what my "return to work" will look like this time around! What I do know is I'm taking a break from this account for a bit, so here's how you can stay in touch instead:

1️⃣ Get on my email list - free guides, behind the scenes, and first dibs on the special offer when I do return. Link in bio to join.

2️⃣ For those who want to follow along with my maternity leave, I'll be posting from my personal account (it's a private account and I will accept either real humans or small business folk I actually know)

See you back here when I've got regular childcare and spots back open for new coaching and supervision clients!

😘

Wrapping up work and pleasantly surprised to find my notes from my last maternity leave suit still. Here's the four things I'm doing:

1. A note on what's gone well this last year - ready to look at when I return to remind myself that I do know what I'm doing!
2. The practical bits - out of office message etc.
3. A draft to-do list for when I start returning
4. Cancelling or downgrading business subscriptions where I can

What have I missed?

I'm now 36 weeks and the emotions are running high for everyone in this pile!

Winding down things at work now - I'm closing bookings for discovery calls and I've drafted my out of office message 🫣

I'll be disappearing from my business account here for a bit soon too. If you'd like to keep in touch please join my email list which will keep running with tools, freebies, and updates on upcoming offers. Link in my bio .space or DM me your email address and I'll add you 💌

Emotional support and solidarity here in the comments ⤵️

And ok, yes my tiny baby is now actually 3.5, but he still *feels* teeny tiny to me!

Primary school offer day in England is this week - Thursday 16th April 2026. Who else is waiting to hear?

From memory we heard fairly early in the day last time round, but that might be wrong! We live really close to school so I'm not worried but there's something different about having it confirmed in writing.

How are you feeling about this next stage of parenthood?

Small biz/freelancer/self-employed? Head to the link in my bio .space (aff link) for THE marketing membership you need in your Spring.

Doors have just opened today, although don't worry about feeling "behind" at any stage - just pick up the tasks that suit you. At £1 a day that feels very ok to me!

This membership and daily prompts has not only kept my marketing consistent through pregnancy, it's grown my reach and opened lots of doors. I'll be back after mat leave for sure!

Any questions my DMs are open or pop them below ⤵️

Possibly one of the best investments I've made in my business, and it was only £90 😮

Easy isn’t lazy - a belief I already shared with coaching clients but wasn't applying to my marketing.

I’m saying that as someone who is currently trying to keep a business going while pregnant, with two kids, and very limited energy most days.

I used to think marketing had to take proper time to work, to look "professional", like a "real business".

Which meant I either overdid it or avoided it (especially if business was going ok - exactly when you do need to keep things ticking over!)

I joined The Best 90 Days Ever after doing a few of ’s free challenges.

Honestly I hesitated, her life looked so different to mine, so much space in it.

I couldn’t see how that translated.

What I’ve actually taken from it has given me some of that space:
- marketing that fits into small pockets of time
- reusing what already works
- letting good enough be enough

Some days that’s ten minutes
Some days it’s nothing
But overall it’s consistent - and that’s new for me!

Doors are open again now for the next 90 day round, and it starts 2 April.

if you want something that helps you keep showing up without it taking over your life, it’s here - link in bio .space

PS I’ve said versions of this before, on purpose
repeating what works is part of it

If you're a small business, freelancer, or side-hustler - head to the link in my bio now to find out how Best 90 Days Ever can make marketing easy for you (just like it has for me!)

Full disclosure - I'm an affiliate for the membership, but I only promote things I actually use! Here's how it's helped me ⤵️

This third pregnancy has been tough! Hannah's membership has been an essential part of keeping my business ticking over.

This month I've signed 2 returning clients, a new client, and I'm setting up work now for my KIT days and after mat leave - despite taking loads of time off for sickness and appointments.

I'll try to share more here about how it helped me the last (almost) 180 days while doors are open for the next round - starting on 2nd April.

I won't be joining the next round due to my maternity leave, but I'll be back later in the year!

See you there?

Any questions jump in the comments below or pop me a DM.

Getting on top of finances is so important for maternity leave, and also for entering working mum life.

Some of my favourites for advice and tips: , , , (this one is particularly for high earners navigating the impact of that on childcare).

I'm currently trying to work out how much I can keep putting in my pension while on maternity pay - what did you do with your pension?
