SHOOTING!!!! St Augustine's Home Guard Rifle Club was founded in 1949, after the Home Guard was disbanded.

We predominantly shoot .22 caliber rifles and .357/.38 full bore. Our club has teams in both the NSRA and KCSSA postal competitions and have done very well in the past. We hold regular fun shoots for members and first timers, which have become increasingly popular and we constantly look for ways to make them fresh and enticing for prospective new members. We continue trying to keep the club moving

Just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who joined us last night for our christmas get together. We couldn't ask for a better group of people for our club and with that in mind I'd like to wish you all, our members, supporters and family members all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!! And I look forward to seeing you all soon.

Thank you to everyone who attended our legacy fun shoot last night! It was an absolutely marvelous night and a great way to not only celebrate George's 14th but also our membership secretary Stuart's birthday too! Aswell as a celebration of the club's history and the stewart familys four generations involvement in it. So once again a huge thank you to all our members for your continued support and attendance.

Hi everyone, just to remind you all that tonight is a very special night and normal shooting will be replaced with a fun shoot for tonight we are celebrating four generations of my family joining the ranks of our St Augustines. It is my oldest son George's 14th birthday and the day he can finally join the club. In addition there will be various pictures, and news paper articles from the club's history put on display for all to see (some of which are a little embarrassing, lol) there will be a buffet and of course cake! This truly is a rare occasion and I hope you will all join me in this celebration! I hope to see you all there. Very best regards, malcolm

Lets start a new segment i like to call...
The Weird World of Wacky Weapons! Or W4 for short. To kick off this weekly feature, i bring you, a key pistol.

First used in the 16th century, key guns allowed a jailer to keep his weapon throughout the entire extremely vulnerable process of opening a cell door, thus never leaving him unprotected. Well, all except for the times when he's actually using the key/barrel end of the pistol to disengage the lock. That's right, key guns weren't just shaped like keys to throw people off or disguise their nature as pistols -- they're both functional keys and functional pistols (presumably so that if some uppity lock ever has the balls to stick on your watch, you can just shoot it off like a Renaissance Bruce Willis).
