โ๏ธ THATโS A WRAP ON OUR SUMMER OF HOCKEY! ๐ป
And just like thatโฆ our summer of hockey has officially come to an end! ๐ญ๐
What a summer it has been! Weโve had sunshine, hockey, laughs, questionable fitness levels, plenty of drinking ๐ป and, most importantly, lots of money raised for some fantastic charities. โค๏ธ
Weโve welcomed teams from near and far, made some new friends, caught up with old ones and probably spent far too much time standing around the bar discussing how much hockey we used to be able to play! ๐
Today was the perfect way to finish things off, with Canterbury, Cliftonville, Herne Bay Yellow and Herne Bay Blue battling it out for the final bragging rights of the summer.
The hockey was competitive, the banter was flowing and there were plenty of tired legs by the end of it! ๐ฅต๐

Congratulations to Canterbury on taking the final tournament of the summer! ๐๐
A massive thank you to everyone who has taken part in our summer tournaments, whether youโve played, umpired, helped behind the scenes, worked in the kitchen or bar, or simply turned up to support. These days don't happen without you! ๐
And talking of umpiresโฆ a huge shout-out to everyone who picked up the whistle today and helped keep the games moving. We genuinely couldnโt do it without you! ๐๐
So, thatโs the summer done. The sticks can have a little rest, the liver can hopefully recover ๐๐บ and we can all start telling ourselves that pre-season fitness will be absolutely fineโฆ
Although judging by some of the performances today, we might need a few extra training sessions! ๐คฃ๐ช
Thanks for making it another brilliant summer at Herne Bay Hockey Club.
Now bring on the new season! ๐๐

๐โ๏ธ ONE LAST TOURNAMENT OF THE SUMMER! โ๏ธ๐
Coming up, weโve got one last tournament of the summer โ and this one is extra special as we celebrate 125 years of Herne Bay Hockey Club! ๐๐
What better way to finish the summer than with a day of hockey, laughs, old friends, new friends and a few questionable decisions about just how fit we still are! ๐
Itโs the perfect chance to dust off the stick, get the legs moving and convince yourself that youโre definitely ready for pre-seasonโฆ even if the first sprint says otherwise! ๐คฃ
๐ Great hockey
๐ค Old friends & new ones
๐ป Good food & drinks
๐ถ Plenty of fun

๐จClub Spotlight ๐จ
Talk Stick was established following the tragic loss of a young member of the hockey family to su***de at Spalding Hockey Club. Through awareness, education, conversation and action, Talk Stick aims to reduce stigma surrounding mental health, encourage people to seek support when needed, and create environments where everyone feels able to talk.
Working in partnership with hockey clubs across the country, Talk Stick is aiming to build a network of clubs committed to improving mental wellbeing, promoting su***de prevention awareness, and supporting their members both on and off the pitch.
Talk Stick has recently started a collaboration with oddballs.
OddBalls have designed and made bespoke OddBalls x Talk Stick products. Not only will this be an amazing way for us to raise funds for Talk Stick but also to create much needed awareness and continuing to spread the word on "breaking the silence" for mental health.
What started as a simple conversation has grown into a movement that is helping teams become stronger communities, where silence is replaced with support and men feel able to speak openly about how they are feeling. In our first year alone, we have delivered seven mental health awareness sessions to hockey clubs across Lincolnshire, brought clubs and communities together, started life-saving conversations, and raised more than ยฃ5,000 through our crowdfunding campaign to support our work. Every session, conversation, donation and act of support has helped us create a culture where checking in with a teammate is seen as a strength, not a weakness. While we are incredibly proud of what has been achieved in our first year, we know this is only the beginning.
Our mission remains the same: to continue raising awareness, educating clubs, supporting players, and ensuring that no one feels they have to struggle alone. We believe that one conversation can change โ and even save โ a life, which is why we encourage everyone to simply check in with a mate, because it could be the most valuable thing you ever do.
After a successful first year, Talk Sticks plan for breaking the silence and raising the awareness of men's mental health with the hockey families.
- Extending the project beyond just Lincolnshire
- More charity hockey matches
- Teaming up with a number of collaborative organisations to bring you more official Talk Stick merchandise.
- Establishing a club partnership model with each club having a Talk Stick ambassador
- Monies raised used to fund the delivery of mental health first aid sessions and to train mental health first aiders to partnering clubs

few photos from today's AGM, with a quick runaround before we got down to business! ๐
Today marked another important step in the journey of our club. We said thank you to committee members who are stepping down after giving their time, passion and dedication to Herne Bay Hockey Club. Your hard work has helped shape where we are today, and we're incredibly grateful for everything you've done.
We're also excited to welcome new faces who are stepping up to continue building on those strong foundations. Every volunteer, whether on the pitch, behind the scenes or in the clubhouse, plays a vital part in making our club the special place it is.
Now the focus turns to the season ahead. New goals, new challenges, new memories to make, and one club moving forward together.
Here's to another fantastic year of hockey, friendship and community. Bring on the new season! ๐๐
