I am looking forward to my season as your President and no doubt will meet up with many of
you during the season. I take this opportunity to congratulate our Past President, Paul, for his
commitment throughout last season and of course to welcome Chris, my Vice President, with
whom I shall enjoy working.
We have to be so grateful for the dedication shown by all Past Presidents, Officers, and
members of Council and those with special duties, who ensure the smooth running of all
aspects of the administration – believe you me it is no mean task!
We, as a county, have truly skilful bowlers and our successes at Leamington last Summer
proved this. Our under 25s doing the double in the White Rose Trophy and Appleyard
winning the Top Club as well as the Singles Championship. A number of our other clubs
were also represented and in some cases our bowlers were within a whisker of making a final.
I am certainly holding high hopes for a multitude of successes this year.
My thanks go to all the clubs who are hosting county matches and of course to all those
members who give so much of their precious time volunteering for club duties. This is so
important these days with costs escalating out of all proportion.
Finally, have an enjoyable bowling season whether it be with your friends for a daily or
weekly roll-up, playing in club matches, or in leagues and competitions.

“The Association is saddened to report on the death of Michael (Mick) Collins one of its most popular Presidents. Many bowlers in Kent and beyond will mourn his passing and the loss of a true friend whilst paying tribute to his outstanding contribution to our sport.
Mick over many years is synonymous with his club Marden where no challenge was too great, from management of the green to Chairman of the club. Over many years the local leagues have much to thank Mick with him having held all Offices, along his commitment to Mote Park Indoor. Mick has always been a wise councillor and respected in all he said and did.
Having had the experience of being Indoor President Mick joined the Association’s presidential ladder becoming its President in 2012. His popularity among the bowling fraternity was without doubt as was his quick wit and ability to hold an audience.
Our sport has lost “one of the best” and a great ambassador. Our thoughts remain with Carol and the family at this difficult time.”
KCBA Chairman Geoff Chapman
