Under 12 Lions Match Report

Bury Rangers 4
London Lions White 1

On a sunny morning at Richard Hale, the Lions welcomed London Lions, a side they had faced on just two previous occasions. Following last week’s disappointment, the Lions were determined to put things right & get back to winning ways.

1st (1-1)
From the very first whistle, the Lions were on the front foot, showing real intent, focus & determination to get the result. There was some excellent football on display throughout, with slick passing combinations, clever interchanges & flowing link-up play creating plenty of opportunities. Grace & Harper both had good chances before a determined run & lovely cross from Annie was coolly slotted home by Nancy. A lack of communication & a defensive mix-up allowed the opposition to equalise just three minutes later, but the Lions kept their composure & remained positive. In midfield, Eva & Harper provided plenty of energy, running & protection, while the back three of Betsy, Charlotte & Daisy were composed on the ball & firm & tenacious in the tackle. Beau’s distribution was superb throughout, helping the Lions build from the back & keep the football flowing.

2nd (4-1)
In the second half, much like the majority of the first, the Lions continued to play with positivity, getting on the front foot & pressing higher up the pitch. This approach would prove particularly effective in the final 15 minutes. First, Nancy capitalised on a mistake before firing emphatically into the roof of the net. Sandwiched between the goals, Harper was in exactly the right place to tap home the Lions’ third following a corner. Then, late on, Grace intercepted a loose ball & drove into the box. Her initial effort was saved, but Gigi reacted quickest to poke home from close range. Gigi, Grace & Nancy all had excellent opportunities to add further goals, while defensively the team remained resilient, tenacious in every tackle & organised throughout, restricting the opposition to very few clear-cut chances.

A much-needed win for the Lions, but the least their performance deserved! The girls battled hard, kept their shape, pressed well & worked tirelessly, whilst also playing some superb football, which was really pleasing to see. Hopefully, this result gives the girls a huge confidence boost going into the next couple of games! 💪🏻

Under 12 Leopards Match Report

Bury Rangers 2
Chorleywood 0

The Leopards U12s secured a well-deserved 2-0 victory over Chorleywood following a masterclass in resilient defending and lethal counter-attacking football.

The Leopards struck first when Ella broke free, keeping her composure in a tense 1v1 with the Chorleywood goalkeeper to slot home a cool-headed finish. Chorleywood pushed hard to respond, but the Leopards' defense was rock-solid.

A defensive wall of Martha, Clodagh, Izzy, and Rose put in relentless effort to keep the opposition at bay. When Chorleywood did manage to breach the backline, goalkeeper Lily delivered a series of outstanding saves including a crucial penalty stop to preserve the lead.
The midfield worked tirelessly to transition quickly from defense to attack. Miaise and Evelyn drove the team forward, while Evie was everywhere, constantly causing problems for the Chorleywood defense.

Bow put in a standout shift, contributing key defensive tracking and energetic runs down the wing, linking up beautifully with Ella in the final quarter.

The hard work paid off in the closing stages when a chaotic goal-line scramble ended with Miaise forcing the ball past the keeper to double the lead and seal the win.

Under 8 Tigers Match Report
Vs Bedwell Dragons

The girls were quickly shell-shocked in the first quarter, with Bedwell racing out of the blocks.

However, the Tigers regrouped going into the second quarter and showed some real determination, working hard and starting to play some lovely football.

Ruby covered huge amounts of the pitch and put in some fantastic tackles, while Lottie led the line brilliantly, making some really dynamic runs and causing problems for the opposition.

The girls continued to do all the right things in the third quarter and were rewarded with a lovely goal from Rosalie.

Emily and Eloise provided excellent support from midfield, combining tireless running with some great tackles and work rate.

In the fourth quarter, the girls gave absolutely everything they had. The tackles kept coming, the work rate never dropped, and Indie put in a really well-timed defensive display.

Today’s game was a lesson in the importance of starting strongly, but what was particularly pleasing was the way the girls responded when faced with an early setback. They kept battling, continued to work for each other and gave everything right up until the final whistle – all while keeping smiles on their faces!

Under 8 Lions Match Report
Vs Whetstone Wildcats

A sunny afternoon of football against a strong and familiar opponent in Whetstone Wildcats.

All the girls were fantastic today, and with both teams playing 5-a-side with no substitutes, it was always going to be a tough test of energy, determination and teamwork.

We knew we were up against an incredibly solid and strong team, and after a cagey opening, we found ourselves in front towards the end of the first quarter. Ivy L found Ivy B in space, and Ivy B made no mistake, calmly slotting home.

Ivy L continued to lead the line and switched from provider to goalscorer in the second quarter with a composed lofted finish.

The girls played with real confidence as the game went on, always looking to pass and work for each other, which was really pleasing to see. Evie was a rock at the back, making a number of important tackles and keeping the Wildcats at bay.

In midfield, Ivy B, Maisie and Olivia got through a huge amount of work, helping out defensively while also getting forward and supporting the attack. Olivia showed great composure throughout, with a number of well-placed passes helping us turn defence into attack.

Maisie grabbed a superb strike in the third quarter, but she saved her best for the final quarter! She slammed a shot into the bottom corner from the edge of the box after pouncing on an error - her second of the game

Under 7s Match Summary

Leaving a sunny Hertford and arriving in a misty cold Potters Bar did nothing to deter this group of young footballers.

We sportingly loaned players to the opposition who were light on numbers and that backfired quickly with our players scoring against us several times.

Top work though by the girls who helped them and their muted celebrations, it made it a fun and entertaining affair as usual.

Checking Opta after the match we recorded the highest number of passes this season by a 32.64% margin on the previous best, this shows just how much this group of girls are improving.

No special mention this week for the simple fact they all did amazing

Under 13 Jaguars Match Report

Wheathampsted Orcas 9
Bury Rangers 1

First half

With 8 players everyone knew it was going to be a challenge but the first 10 minutes were amazing. There was great defending and attitude from the girls to keep them out but unfortunately the opposition got a goal. The girls never gave up and not shortly after Mia got the ball off Evie from a great pass splitting there midfield and Mia took on 2-3 players and slotted it into the bottom corner. Further into the first half some good goals from the opposition that couldn’t be stopped to make it 3-1.

Second half

Towards the end of the first you could see the girls were getting tired which made the opposition see gaps in the midfield which made them take full advantage to get 5 goals.

Our girls kept fighting especially Evie in a new position at CB blocking shots with any part of her body to get one smashed in her face when we were 7-1 down showed the determination to not concede anymore.

Same with all the other girls they could have all decided to half hart it in the later stages but they all put tackles in and kept on going til the end.

Under 13 Panthers Match Report

A warm, sunny late October afternoon greeted the Panthers… although with today being Halloween, there were certainly a few scares along the way!
We dominated lots of the ball and play in the first half with all of the girls showing how well they can play as a group!

The breakthrough came from a brilliant driving run after Mabs intercepted a ball, taking on the Ware defenders. Her initial effort hit the post, but she was quickest to react to the rebound and calmly slotted it past the keeper to make it 1-0 Panthers!

We enjoyed some really good spells of play and possession, creating opportunities and looking dangerous. We were unlucky not to add a second before half-time.

Half-time: 1-0 Panthers.

We knew Ware would come out strongly after the break, and they certainly did. They started the second half on the front foot and piled on the pressure.

Somehow, we managed to keep them out after a loose ball in the box threatened to cause problems.
A high-foot decision gave Ware a free kick, but Miley produced a fantastic save to keep it out.

Ware dominated possession for much of the second half, but the Panthers dug deep. Every single player put in a shift defensively, showing incredible determination, teamwork and resilience. Our defence stood firm, and when Ware did manage to get efforts away, Miley was there with multiple fantastic saves to deny them.

A brilliant battling performance from the whole team, showing that sometimes it’s not just about how you play with the ball, but how hard you’re willing to work without it.

A clean sheet, a fantastic goal and three well-deserved points. No tricks, just treats for the Panthers this afternoon!
