**Saturday 05/09/26**

The 2026/27 Season started today for many of our Saturday teams.
U8 Celtic enjoyed a new start as a team with lots of players thriving in confidence.
Our U10s Benfica and Sporting teams gave their new kits a run out (Kindly Sponsored by TeamKits ) as they played sn entertaining friendly match played in good spirits.
Our U11 Atletico hosted Benfield in their first game in their new League and had a fantastic experience in a close match.
Unfortunately there were defeats for both our U13 Dynamo teams but our Jaguars U14s managed an entertaining draw with some of the younger age group girls stepping up and doing well.
Our U16 Scorpions Girls were first to kick off the Season with a narrow 5-4 loss at Wideopen on Friday evening. Our U14 PSG team picked up their Russell Forster Youth League form from last season with a 5-2 win at Consett Steelers.
The U13 Puma Girls started bright 🌞 with a good 2-1 win against Walker.
The Hexham Leopards started the season with a strong 6-1 win over Wylam Rockets.
What an amazing team performance where everyone attacked and defended together with tight passing and incredible spirit.

Tomorrow we’re back in Northern Alliance Division 1 action as we welcome Newcastle Benfield Reserves to the High School, looking to make it four wins from four. 💚🤍

Last Saturday saw another brilliant result for the lads as we came away with a 5-2 win over North Sunderland FC.

North Sunderland made a quick start, taking the lead inside the opening 10 minutes, but just a couple of minutes later Leo De Santis brought us level with his third goal in three games. The game then swung heavily in our favour as North Sunderland were reduced to nine men after picking up two red cards inside the opening 30 minutes.

Hexham took control from there, with Miller Thornton putting us 2-1 ahead just before half-time.

The second half was largely one-way traffic. A brilliant header from Jake took a deflection off a North Sunderland defender and found the net for an own goal to make it 3-1, before some excellent football saw Max Gradwell flick a cross towards the back post for Charlie C to tap home our fourth.

North Sunderland pulled one back from the penalty spot, but Alex Waters wrapped things up with a composed penalty into the bottom corner to seal a 5-2 victory and three wins from three. ✅🔥

Tomorrow brings another tough test as we look to keep that momentum going against Newcastle Benfield Reserves.

FULL TIME ✅

A brilliant performance under the lights sees Hexham make it 2 wins from 2 with a convincing 3-0 victory over Newcastle University.

The lads started the first half much better than last Saturday, controlling possession in positive areas and looking composed both on and off the ball. Defensively, Hexham were solid throughout, limiting Newcastle University to very few clear-cut opportunities.

The game really came to life in the second half. After creating a number of chances, the breakthrough arrived when Leo De Santis came off the bench and, with his very first touch of the game, finished from close range inside the six-yard box. Just five minutes later, Leo doubled his tally in spectacular fashion, rifling a superb half-volley from the edge of the area into the bottom corner, giving the goalkeeper no chance.

To wrap up the victory, Alex Waters picked the ball up near the touchline before unleashing a stunning curling effort on his weaker foot that flew in off the post of the top corner – a goal worthy of winning any game.

Hexham continued to create opportunities but couldn’t add to the scoreline, settling for a well-deserved 3-0 win and another clean sheet.

🏅 Man of the Match: Max Gradwell – a dominant display in midfield, controlling the game from start to finish and hardly putting a foot wrong.

Attention now turns to North Sunderland, where the lads will be looking to make it three wins from three. 💚🤍

MATCHDAY ⚽️

Tonight we welcome Newcastle University to the Queen Elizabeth 4G, with kick-off at 7pm.

The lads head into the fixture full of confidence following Saturday’s dramatic 3–2 victory away to Rothbury FC. After finding ourselves 2–0 down, a brilliant second-half response saw goals from George Brady, Max Cessford and Harry Garfoot complete the comeback and secure all three points. We’ll be looking to carry that momentum into tonight’s game! 💚💙

Good luck to our Seniors team who kick off their new Season today away to Rothbury Football Club

MATCH DAY ⚽️

Today we travel to face Rothbury FC in our first league fixture of the new season.

Following last Wednesday’s 3-2 victory over Prudhoe YC Reserves in the Clayton Cup 3rd Place Play-Off, the lads will be looking to carry that momentum into the league campaign. The last time we travelled to Rothbury, we produced a dominant performance to take all three points, and we’ll be aiming to start this season in the same fashion.

As we’re on the road today, the lads will proudly be wearing our yellow and black away kit, generously sponsored by (spade_and_stone )Spade and Stone Landscaping & Building Services. Our Hexham Athletico U11s are kicking off an exciting challenge to run, walk, swim, and cycle 920.5km — the distance from Hexham to Wembley and back to St James' Park. Every kilometre helps support local football and gives these young players the chance to grow and thrive. Hexham FCs newest team, Hexham Falcons U8s entered Wrekenton tournament this weekend for a brilliant tournament. After some really tight exiting games and some fantastic goals scored we progressed to the semi final where we faced boro rangers the winners of the other group. Unfortunately it wasn’t their day as they were narrowly pipped on dreaded penalties. A great day had by all.
