Cool weather? Social distancing favoured? Here's one way that people enjoyed their day of croquet today!

"I didn't know you can play croquet in the winter" Well, eight people from six different clubs showed yesterday that you can. One of our winter tournaments saw them enjoy a day's competitive play on our true-running lawns. Everyone tasted victory and the homemade cake, but only Peter will get to taste the bottle of bubbly that rewarded him as overall winner. Serious play, cheerful chat between games, all before the sun went down.

Come and Try It Day – Saturday 10th July, 10:30am to 4pm
Looking for something different – why not try croquet?
Like many others before you, you will be surprised by what you find.
• A game of skill and strategy - a bit like snooker on grass.
• A sport that lets you be as competitive or social as you want to be
• A game played by people of all ages
If you are free on 10th July, then come and give the game a try. We are a friendly and social club that would love to introduce you to the game and show you why we enjoy it so much.
If you have flat shoes and a “have a go” attitude we will supply the kit to get you started.
High Wycombe Croquet Club, Hazlemere Recreation Ground
Amersham Road, Hazlemere HP15 7QW.
Even at midnight (for a charity fundraiser), croquet players still hit the ball acurately, praise an opponent's shot and have fun. If this sort of thing appeals, then come over to Hazlemere Recreation Ground on Saturday 10 July any time between 10 and 4 to a 'Come and Try It' Day. Covid-secure arrangemnts and a friendly welcome. Daylight guaranteed, too!

It's 1030 on Saturday night. It's dark. It's raining. It's rather cold. Two people are playing croquet under floodlights. Why? To raise money for Wycombe Homeless Connection and for the croquet club, 50:50. Worth supporting, don't you think? If you do, please donate at https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/hwcc24hour
Thank you!

A 24-hour summer croquet marathon? Why?!?!?
Well, to help the Wycombe Homeless Connection and club funds. Various players will be competing from noon - noon on June 19/20, under floodlights during the shortest night of the year. Look out for people's appeals for donations. Half will go to help people without a home and half to the club. Two good causes!
Following our second hiatus, we open back up today. 😀 Members are busy booking any available lawn. 2020 has seen our numbers increase significantly as people have realised how relatively safe Croquet is, in this pandemic.
More than £4,000 has been raised for MacMillan by croquet players, including the High Wycombe club. And Stephen Wright from High Wycombe finished as runner up out of 23 finalists in the competition.
