Who is ready to set some new goals? 🙋🏼‍♀️
Back from Ibiza! Safe to say I’m still not feeling that fresh but I’m so excited to get back into my routine and set some new goals! I am not going to focus on any particular aesthetic goal but instead want to make sure I’m feeling healthy and strong! The aim is to make these goals completely achievable therefore I am more likely to stick to them and benefit more in the long run.

Goal #1: hit 8k steps a day
8k is an achievable amount for me to hit without feeling overwhelmed thinking I need to pace the house at 11pm (that is definitely not what I encourage my clients to do)

Goal #2: start intuitive eating. I have recently realised that I no longer want to track my food. From years of on and off tracking I feel that I know how much I should be eating to feel good. This doesn’t mean I will never track again but for now I feel mentally this is the best thing for me. I will still ensure I am aiming to get enough protein and a healthy balance of carbs and fats.

Goal #3: build back my strength especially with hipthrusts. I have noticed a huge drop in my strength as I haven’t been as consistent with my training. That is totally fine and I’m so excited to get stronger and fitter again and hit numbers that I was hitting a few months ago!

Goal #4: run 5k. This is a goal I always seem to let slide. Every time I start running I lose the motivation after a few weeks, this time I am determined not to give up and incorporate a weekly run to aim to improve each week

Who wants to join me and make some achievable goals to make you feel bloody amazing this summer? 💃🏻☀️

Please DM for any enquiries 🤍

Back from the most incredible 2 weeks in Mexico. And it made me think about a time that I would have so much anxiety around holiday and falling off my diet or not exercising. In 2 weeks I did one workout, ate and drank what I wanted and I made so many memories. There were mornings we had planned to go to the gym but instead had a lie in or wanted to enjoy the sunshine so we went for a walk instead. I still ate salad and vegetables mainly because I love them and they make me feel good, but you best believe I also ate my bodyweight in tortilla chips and guac 🥑 and don’t get me started on the frozen strawberry and mango daiquiri’s 🥭🍓
There used to be a time this would make me panic and exercise like a mad woman and eat lettuce leaves for every meal, but now I just resort back to my normal habits. I have eased myself back into my workouts and I’ve held off putting the fitness watch back on. Fitness watches are amazing but also can be triggering and sometimes giving yourself a little bit of a break is great if you’re finding yourself getting obsessive with the numbers etc..
So if you’re going on holiday soon please remember you can drink that cocktail, eat that pizza and miss that workout if you want to. Everything will be okay when you get home and normal routine will always be there. Life isn’t about stressing on holiday about how many calories we’ve had, instead cherish the memories you’re making and be in the moment. Those last a lifetime 🤍

My progress so far..
I started getting into weight training around 6 years ago. I had been into fitness before this however I was obsessed with HIIT classes and hours and hours of cardio. At this point I was probably eating around 1200-1400 calories a day. My aim was to try and lose weight and be ‘skinny’.
I decided to get a PT myself as I knew I wanted to start weight training but didn’t know where to start. This was when I found out that I was eating way too little and prioritising cardio over anything else. Looking back at pictures now I never saw how small I really was then.

Fast forward 6(ish) years and a lot of learning later I am a completely different person. Not only in the way I look but I also have a completely different mindset to back then. I have finally found a happy medium between training, diet, socialising etc and this lifestyle is my life now.

I have been working on my own body image issues as I have found over the years I have been fairly negative about the way I look. I have recently been changing the way I think about myself. It definitely helps now with all the amazing influencers out there that actually show their REAL bodies. Stretch marks, belly pooches, cellulite etc.. all of which when I see it on them I have no negative thoughts, If anything I look at look great. So if that’s what I think about then why shouldn’t I think the same about myself?

What I’m trying to get at here is that we should be proud of our bodies and what they can do. Focus on all the amazing things we have achieved and not the tiny little pouch of belly fat or the stretch marks you got from pregnancy or even just growing in general!

So instead of looking at the negatives I am going to focus on all of the things I’m proud of myself for. I no longer obsess about the number on the scale or if I’ve eaten a little too much that day. Instead I’m excited when I hit a PB in the gym or I look forward to spending time with my friends. Right now I’m excited about spending Christmas with my family. Eating and drinking all of the amazing food that comes with it with no guilt whatsoever. And that for me is a massive win.

1st September!

Who is setting goals for a brand new month?

I’m going to set myself a few goals this month ready to feel confident and healthy on my holiday at the end of the month 😍☀️

•Track my diet ensuring I’m in a slight deficit. This is purely to get me feeling a bit more comfortable and confident on holiday. No crazy diets and a very small achievable deficit.

•10k steps a day (I actually aim for 70,000 across the whole week, this means that on extra busy days I can have some flexibility)

•4 x weight sessions a week (2 lower, 1 upper, 1 full body)

•1 x 60 minute cardio session, on days that I have time I will add 10-15 mins cardio on the end of my sessions

•Try out at least 3 new recipes, purely because I’ve been boring and eaten the same meals 😅

All of these goals are small and completely achievable. On the flip side, if I miss a session or go over calories one day I won’t be beating myself up about it. But creating goals and having something to work towards is always fun!

Let’s smash September! 💪🏻🤍

Holidays ☀️
Just got back from the best week away with my girls 🤍 we did a lot of eating and drinking and I have absolutely NO regrets 🍹
Now back to reality, ready to smash my workouts again, get my nutrition back to what makes me feel good 💪🏻
You should never feel like you have to get ‘bikini ready’ for a holiday. Starving yourself and working out 3 times a day. However if you are wanting a confidence boost and to be feeling your healthiest self then there is no problem in working on yourself before a holiday. Just remember life is for living, holidays are to be enjoyed and you can get back to your normal routine when you’re home.
If you’re wanting to feel your best on holiday and need help knowing how to in the healthiest most sustainable way then please send me a message. My DM’s are always open 🤍

Squats…

Let’s just say they have never been my strongest lift. I got to a point last year where I started lifting heavier getting to around 80kg. However, I quickly realised my form was completely off and I wasn’t getting enough depth. When you see people repping out 100kg it can be so annoying thinking why can’t I do that! But you are better off squatting 50kg with excellent form vs a 100kg squat with bad form barely hitting 90 degrees.

Your muscles are under the most tension at the bottom of your squat. When I was squatting heavier I didn’t reach my full range of motion. This meant that I wasn’t reaching the full potential and making optimal use of the movement.

So a few things I have changed recently…

•Stripped back the weight - this is giving me the chance to focus on form and increasing range of motion. I will still be looking to increase weight over time, however I won’t do so until I feel that my form is on point. If I up the weight and form starts to slip, I will lower back down.

•Stretching and mobility work - by stretching before and warming up correctly it will help to improve my form and range of motion. I’m putting a lot more effort in to my hip, knee and ankle mobility in particular.

•Warm up sets - I would previously do this however I would rush through the sets into my working sets. Now I am focussing on doing atleast 2-3 sets as a warmup.

This process has actually made me enjoy squats a lot more and I’m now excited to see how much I improve over time💪🏻
