The 1929 Dance festival saw the introduction of a Veterans Dance, a waltz for men over 50 years old. There were no rules about the age of their female partners, and most men were paired with a younger dancer. At least 3,000 spectators watched this new competition.

The biggest single room in the Winter Gardens, the Empress Ballroom, welcomed its first guests in 1896. Along with the Dance Festivals, major concerts by top bands and artists are still held in the Empress Ballroom today.

We are holding an afternoon Social Dance on Sunday 18th January, starting at 2.30 p.m., at Piddington Village Hall, for an afternoon of Ballroom & Latin dancing. 💃🕺
