High Wycombe Judo Centre

The Centre is a purpose built, permanently matted Judo Dojo with accommodation, bar, social, catering and accommodation facilities. The facility is governed by a Board of Directors consisting of eight Judo Black Belts. The large, heated Dojo, opened in 1987, is a purpose-built training hall. The permanently-matted area has 144 tatami (mats) laid on a sprung floor arranged into two full-sized compe

tition areas. The Dojo has a permanent stage and five-tier seating for 150 spectators as well as a first floor spectator gallery. There is a projector screen and white board for teaching purposes. The Centre has on-site accommodation consisting of four comfortable and modern twin bedded en-suite rooms with colour television, Wi-Fi high speed internet access, and tea and coffee making facilities. There is a communal kitchen with dining area and washing and drying machines, iron and ironing board, fridge, cooker and microwave oven. We have a fully-fitted, professional kitchen, with the capacity to cater for large numbers. Join us to relax after training at our fully licensed bar facility, which is equipped with a jukebox, pool table and dartboards. The bar is often bustling with our own members from the Judo, Running, Hockey, Karate and Ju jitsu Clubs as well as our social members, some of whom have been members for over twenty years, our staff and Directors. The Centre has a conference suite, which consists of a large room with a capacity for 50 delegates, (theatre style) or 30 delegates seated at a boardroom table. We also have a more intimate meeting room (shown above) for private/smaller meetings or breakout sessions. Guests are very welcome to use these facilities for de-briefing sessions. The following equipment is available on site:

• 42” Plasma screen
• Wi-Fi High Speed Internet Access

The Centre boasts it’s own recently renovated Sauna where guests are invited to relax after training or the Sauna can be used as part of a weight management program. Other facilities include modern, spacious men’s and ladies changing rooms, a first aid/physiotherapy room and a shop stocking a good range of Judo products. The Centre is located next to a large expanse of open grassed fields and a children’s play area. A small local supermarket can be reached within ten minutes walk. A large supermarket, restaurants, department store, cinema and swimming pool are within five minutes drive. Our resident Running Club can recommend some good local running routes. Judo lessons are normally held on every weekday evening. Lessons are run by our voluntary coaches, most of whom are Directors of the Centre. Our instructors are all highly-qualified and experienced and are able to offer a range of coaching and instruction to national standard. The High Wycombe Judo Centre regularly hosts national, regional, county and club Judo events as well as day or weekend seminars and coaching courses. In addition the facilities have also been used by other disciplines that require a large matted area, such as Gymnastics, Kickboxing, Aikido, Ju Jitsu, Karate and Wrestling. We are proud to have hosted the following visiting teams:

- Korean National Squad
- Israeli National Junior Judo Squad
- South African Kata Team
- Royal Air Force Judo Squad
- British Combined Services Judo Squad

Additionally, we supported the Great Britain national woman’s team prior to the Seoul and Barcelona Olympics. We look forward to meeting you.

A huge thank you to everyone who supported the event - clubs, supporters, officials, coaches, volunteers, competitors, and spectators. Your commitment helped make Ares Premiership 2026 another fantastic success.

A special thank you to High Wycombe Judo Club staff and volunteers for running the centre so smoothly on the day.

When Aaron and I started Ares, it began with a simple vision and a belief that we could create something special within British judo. Since then, we have been fortunate enough to take so many incredible people on that journey with us.

Our ambition remains the same: to continue raising standards and helping create a better competitive environment for everyone involved in British judo.
