Oxford University Clay Pigeon Shooting Club

Congratulations to our shooters who attended BUCS Clay Pigeon Shooting Championship 2023-24 at Orston Shooting Ground in December! We’re delighted to announce that our Men’s Team won, and our Women’s Team finished 3rd! These are the best results the club has ever achieved and demonstrates the positive development of our club over the last few years. We’re also very proud of the work our committee has put in, and grateful to those less experienced members who supported the teams while putting in great scores of their own at this tough event.
We’d like to thank our sponsor Browning for our guns, and also Fiocchi UK for their fantastic FBlack and TT One cartridges (supplied by Claverdon Cartridges Ltd) which helped us achieve these amazing results.
Thank you to British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) for organising this event. Now, we’re training for and looking forward to Varsity which should be a great contest this year!

At the end of November, a group of 5 squads made the trip to St. Dials Farm near Monmouth for one of our annual highlights – the Christmas Cup. Luckily, the weather held out and the torrential rain held off until after the shooting. Despite this, the ground was slippery and a few of our friends from other unis suffered the consequences of this on the hill: falling in spectacular fashion! It was a really promising start to the year, with many new shots getting involved, and we hope everyone enjoyed the flush as much as we did.

Good luck to our members competing tomorrow at the super final of The Handicap Challenge at Royal Berkshire Shooting School. Harry Goaman, our former president, shot the second highest score on Week 7 of the challenge, closely followed by our coach Matt Hance.

Congratulations to club member .n.la on her third place in her category at the Ladies Cup at RBSS

Incredible day at Barbury Shooting School competing at the University of Bristol Clay Pigeon Shooting Club competition. Forty of our members attended this event, including two full ladies squads and one alumni squad. Top 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th highest individual scores were from Oxford. It was great to see our new members proudly wearing their team kit. As usual massive thanks to our supporters: Eley Hawk Ltd for the softest fibre wad cartridges one could ever wish for, Browning Europe for the guns, Matt Hance for coaching and organizing embroidering of our kit, Sporting Hares for the beautiful hats, E. J. Churchill and Barbury Shooting School for helping us quickly train complete beginners into competitive shots and Consumables Solutions for the ultra-fast premium embroidery.

Incredible results at BUCS 2021 Clay Pigeon Shooting Competition. As far as we know, these were the best results ever for Oxford University Sport at British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS). Men’s team (Ricardo Parolin Schnekenberg, Giles Murphy, Albert Williams and Robert Middleton) won 🥈 overall, and Ricardo was 🥉 best individual score. In the Alumni competition, our former captain Ethan Bosse was high gun 🥇. Despite the challenging course, cold weather, and windy conditions, we witnessed excellent shooting and great scores this weekend. We would like to thank our main sponsors Eley Hawk Ltd Browning Europe and E. J. Churchill for supporting the club throughout the past several years. This support has allowed us to develop existing talent and introduce hundreds of students to the sport of clay shooting.
