BBHR is a skater owned and run roller derby team. Born on the 4th July 2011, we are a team of like minded skaters, referees, NSOs and volunteers. We won the women's tier 3 South division in 2019 and are excited to compete again when we are able. We run beginners courses twice a year (minimum age 18) for women and non-binary people. We teach you how to skate, how to fall and how to play the awesome

In honour and celebration of Trans Awareness Week, here are our teammate Alf’s thoughts on finding roller derby 💚🏳️‍⚧️💗🩵🛼

Sport should be for everyone and it’s a matter of pride to be a part of an inclusive and welcoming sport like roller derby.

“After realising I was trans I didn’t think there was a place for me in competitive sport any more, roller derby changed that for me. At Big Bucks, there was no fight for inclusion, I didn’t have to justify my body I was just allowed to turn up and train as myself. Roller derby is a truly inclusive sport, and I’m so glad I found it 💚”

Our final scores from playoffs tier 3!

We had the best weekend ever playing with our fantastic opponents and 💚

We loved hearing our Big Bucks chant have a slightly Mancunian twang at some points 😉 which really sums up the spirit of roller derby, and your opponents often become your friends and teammates.

Thank you for a brilliant time! 🏅🏅🏅
