Local bragging rights for the Borough!
Today Hinckley travelled the short trip to Burbage to play their penultimate friendly of the season.
Hinckley started well causing Burbage issues from the get-go. An early defensive error saw Hinckley take the lead through Ethan Steane, who pressed well. Ethan Steane then doubled his lead coolly 1 on 1 with the keeper, before Joey Gee added a third. Burbage grew into the game and had a good last 10 minutes but Hinckley held firm and went into the break 3 up.
Burbage started the 2nd half well again and Hinckley were on the back foot but again looked solid defensively, restricting Burbage to long range efforts, but equally looking dangerous themselves on the counter attack. Hinckley added a forth when Oliver Moore finished from close range from a corner. Burbage did get a conciliation goal sneaking the ball in at the near post after a move down the right hand side. Hinckley then took control of the game again and began to create more chances coming close on a few occasions. Ethan Steane a real pest up front causing no end of problems and confusion for the Burbage defence. Hinckley then added a fifth late on when Alfie Gledhill got a touch from a nicely lofted free kick, hitting a Burbage player and deflecting in.
A great performance from Hinckley against the side a division above.

Borough just fall short as they lose in the Gold Cup Final to tournament favourites Harborough Town, with a valid effort against the top division side. Some tired legs after a long day in sun and the extra game for Hinckley was telling, plus that little extra quality meant Harborough had that bit more to win the Trophy.
A fantastic effort from all of the players, with some great goals through the day and also some incredible defensive stats. Hinckley not conceding a goal or losing a game until the final, which is alone very impressive.

A great performance away at AFC Andrew’s today saw Borough come out winners against the bottom placed division 2 side. Some lovely football in difficult hot conditions resulting in some great team goals. A shame to concede as Hinckley looked solid defensively.
On to the Harborough Town FC tournament next week looking to bring back the trophy!
