Lauren Russell recently joined us for a very informative lecture and workshop Facilitating Inclusivity. Lauren introduced us to the concepts of translating dance to ensure all classes are accessible and inclusive. Which we absolutely loved.

Lauren attended Ballet and Tap at Rochelle from age 7 and later joined Miss Lisa’s Commercial Jazz class. At 18 Lauren went to university to study Psychology followed by a PGCE and taught as a classroom teacher for 13 years and a SENDCO for 2 years. In 2024 Lauren took the leap and went freelance as a dance artist.

Lauren now works with SideKick Dance, Arts Council England, We are Epic and performs with Propel Dance.

We would just like to update you on Tom Newton’s career in the world of dance.

Tom is currently onboard the Celebrity Ascent travelling around the Mediterranean and visiting countries such as Greece, Montenegro, Croatia, Turkey and Italy.

He will soon reposition over to the Caribbean where he will spend 2 weeks sailing Saint Lucia, Barbados, St Kitts and many other islands before finishing his contract on 23rd November and heading back home.

Before this, Tom was onboard Celebrity Edge as the production cast Dance Captain and was lucky enough to be visiting places all over Alaska and then moving onto Hawaii and the French Polynesia over to Australia where he spent the remainder of his contract.

We are very proud of all of Tom’s achievements and we very much look forward to catching up with him in November.

Good luck at Ballet Theatre UK, Jacob!

I’ve been coming to the Rochelle studio under the light of my older sister since I was born, however didn’t start taking my own classes until I was 4, starting with commercial funk and modern jazz. Over the years these classes taught me lessons of strength, teamwork, and ignited my true passion for dancing from a young age. It was from there that I decided to start ballet, and, as time went on, my confidence grew under the wings of Miss Kaye, Miss Jessica, Miss Debbie and Miss Lisa. In September, I will be starting a 3 year journey with The School Of Ballet Theatre UK on their BA Hons course, and will study classical ballet, contemporary dance and jazz. All my thanks goes to my Rochelle teachers for supporting me and assisting me in my journey to where I am today, I wouldn’t be here without them, and I will always be eternally grateful.
