LM2 vs Feathers

The LM2 squad knew a win against Feathers would secure promotion to D4 with 2 games to spare.
1st pairing of Ben & Alex came through against the 1sts (who were actually the 2nds) in 3, wining the deciding end 10-21 (21-17,21-23,10-21)

Next up, 2nd pair of newly formed partnership Khalid & Junak took on feathers 2nds (strongest pair) We were informed they are unbeaten all season 👀 This match was also going to 3… Unfortunately, our boys lost the 3rd end 24 -22 (17-22,21-19,24-22)

Ben / Alex next took on the strong seconds. This was an epic game, going the distance also! Unfortunately, Feathers edged the game 24-22 in the 3rd with our boys having a match point but served into the net 😩

Khalid / Junak next took on the 3rds, wining in 2. They made a bit of a meal out of the first game, but quickly took the 2nd end 12-21 (18-21,12-21)

Game 7, Alex and Ben took on the easy 3rds….
Well, we all assumed it would be easy… this was far from it 😳💥

This pair have already played 6 games, legs were tiring. Mix in the fact that Alex had been moving into his new love pad the same day, Ben still recovering from a 14hr bender at the weekend and a 620 mile round trip midweek… this could get close 😳

Close it was.. our lads lost the 1st end 23-21… but won the 2nd end 19-21!! This game again, going to 3 😂🥴😂

But boom… at 83p an end, value for money was ensured as they won the 3rd end “comfortably” 18-21 😳😂👌👌

Last game of the night, Darren & Jacob took on the strong 2nds

8-1 down so far in the 1st end, it’s not looking good against this unbeaten, seasoned pair 🥴 Jacob a very frustrated partner as Darren keeps on lifting and clearing… Jacob instructs Darren to just to play drop shots and smashes…Boom, we turned it around winning the 1st end 21-16.

Realising this pair hadn’t lost all season, with Promotion in the bag… we had nothing to lose. After playing some great badminton (watched by our very own cheerleader Tom) we came through in 2 winning the 2nd end 17-21)! 😃🔥💥🔥💥

Fantastic result against a good team! A shout out to everyone who played tonight, it was tough grind! But the pairing of the night goes to Darren & Jacob for taking 3 rubbers, including beating arguably one of the strongest pairs in D5.

RB2 vs Avon

This was a re-arranged fixture that I hadn’t noticed!! Luckily Ben came to the rescue & scrambled a team together in 15 mins, so we didn’t start the match until 8:40, but many thanks to Ben, Alex & Darren for stepping in.

This was a game against top of the division Avon & by a shear stroke of luck we had a strong team.
Pairs were Ben/Tracey, Alex/Darren. With minimal warm up A/D started off against the 2nd pair and got a fab win 21-19, 22-20. B/T were able to start shortly after, took the 1st pair to 3 games, but another great win 21-14, 15-21, 21-19. Time for the swap, A/D took the 1st pair to 3 aswell winning 21-18, 14-21, 23-21. B/T started against the 2nds & soon realised it was going to be a tough one. We lost the 1st 14-21, so went for a change of tactic. 2nd game was a lot closer losing 24-26.

The split was Ben/Alex and Darren/Tracey. We were 3 - 1 up so just needed 1 more game for the win. B/A secured it for us winning 21-13, 21-19. D/T game was a bit rushed as we were running short of time, we lost 8-21, 10-21. Overall result 4 - 2 Amazing Win 🎉

LM3 vs Melton OG 2

Dave and Euan sporting their fancy new Trinity shirts decided to get their moneys worth by going to 3 or 21-19 every time but coming out on top with 2 out of 3. Prem and Kiranam were at their imperious best taking 3 without drama. And Dan and I also taking 3 emphatically with the highlight being Dan NOT finding a reason to argue with the opposition 😀probably as his fiancee was watching. So a nice 8-1 win , surely nothing can stop LM3 from getting promoted now

So on to the main part of the evening, after the match the super nice folks from Melton joined us for a beer , I won the argument as to Baron v Bounty ( sorry Dave) until they threw us out at 10.30 ( sorry Dave). So off to the Bounty. WTF another disco in a completely empty pub 🤷‍♂️. Prem tried to get them to turn it down but …. So (sorry Dave) off to the Union All good. Open til 11 and my vote for the new Trinity pub. Thanks again to Melton for being great chaps. 👍👍👍

Our last away match of the season, but at least we played with feathers. The team was Ben & Tracey, Kirinam & Ruth. B/T started well against a tough 1st pair winning 21-18, then had a bit of a wobble, losing 14-21, but took the rubber 21-16 … phew!

K/R also took theirs to 3 games, the 1st game was close losing 18-21, won the 2nd 21-15, but lost the 3rd 21-11. Time for the switch over. B/T made hard work of it, but got the win in 3. K/T did well against the strong 1st pair, losing 17-21 & 8-21. 2-2 at the split!! B/R had some close games winning 21-18 & 21-17.

K/T just needed to win theirs 😬 Kirinam started out like superman!! We were 10-2 up in the 1st game (against what we thought were the stronger pair!) We were far enough ahead to win 21-10.

Unfortunately we couldn’t maintain the pace and lost the next two 17-21 & 16-21. Happy with the draw, as this is an improvement on our previous encounter. Well done team 😁😁

LM2 Vs North Leicestershire

Not much really to say here apart from yet another dominant win from the lads in Division 5

Shake up of pairings saw the introduction of Neil with Junak on his home debut, captain cripple Darren with the 1 legged Jacob, propped up by the solid pairing of Ben & Alex

During the warm up, Darren’s arm was clearly in a state of non repair, but decided to carry on regardless, but such has now proved costly (ouch!)
The RB1 captain Jacob, was hobbling around the court like a 75 year old due to an injury he picked up also 😅👨‍🦼🧑🏻‍🦼

It was plain sailing for Alex / Ben winning all rubbers comfortably in 2. The highlight being a 21-5 win against the 3rd pair.

Remarkably, Darren & Jacob also won all rubbers in 2. All the games were painfull to play, and also painful to watch 😅😂 (some pre match ibuprofen tablets from Tom didn’t seem to kick in until the match had been won 😅)

For a brand new pairing, Neil / Junak started brilliantly beating the 3rd pair (21-6, 21-7)

They also took the 2nds in 2 (21-12,21-16) but fell just short against the 1sts.

It’s was a very tight affair going to 3, but unfortunately loosing 19-21 in final game (18-21,21-15,19-21)

8-1 Trinity Men’s 2 win

That’s 7 wins from 7 and a likely promotion to D4 is on the cards 🏆🤞

RM1 vs St Phillips 2

RM1 made the journey over to St Phillips 2 for the 5th match of the season. In classic Claudio Ranieri style, the line up remained unchanged.

Tom & Khalid up against their first pair, a solid start winning 21-14 & 21-15. Jake & Ethan with an efficient start, dispatching the second pair 21-7 & 21-8.

Tom & Khalid made hard work of it but came through 15-21, 21-17 & 21-8 against the second pair. Jake & Ethan with a well executed win 21-17 & 21-17 against the first pair.

Into the split with the win already wrapped up, Tom & Ethan lost in a close 3 set game 21-11, 11-21 & 19-21. Jake & Khalid took the long route but finished off with a decent win 21-15, 20-22 & 21-18.

5-1 win overall for RM1. 1 win required from 3…

RB2 vs Lutterworth 2

Very much a mixed team for the match with pairs Sam/Dan & Ben/Tracey.

We started well with a great win for S/D 21-18 & 22-20 and a win for B/T 21-15 & 21-13. The swap over was tougher with S/D taking their game to 3. All the games were really close, but the took the final game 21-19. B/T had an easier time winning to 15 & 10. We are 4 -0 up going into the split. B/S had some more close games 21-18, 19-21 then 21-19. 5 nill up 🎉

Unfortunately D/T couldn’t make in a clean sweep losing theirs 13-21 & 10-21. Still a great result & rb2’s first win of the season 🥳

RM1 vs Lutterworth 1

RM1 travelled over to take on Lutterworth 1, confidence high after a good win against St Phillips 1 only 6 days prior. Things were off to a bad start with Khalid forgetting his court shoes. Thankfully Tom was willing to play in standard trainers and let Khalid borrow his court shoes. Double match fees now required from Khalid.

Tom and Khalid took on the experienced first pair, winning 21-10 & 21-19. Jake and Ethan took on the new look second pair, winning 21-9 & 21-13. Comfortable 2-0 lead.

Tom and Khalid walked through the second pair, winning 21-6 & 21-8. Jake and Ethan struggled to get a grip on the game against the first pair, losing 21-16 & 21-14. Less comfortable 3-1 lead.

Into the split, Tom and Ethan struggled against 1 & 3, losing 21-16 & 21-16. Jake and Khalid got the job done against 2 & 4, winning 21-17 & 21-14.

4-2 win for RM1 bringing us to second in the table with 4 games to go…
