🌟 CPD EVENING — WEDNESDAY 15TH APRIL, 7PM! 🌟
We’re really excited to invite you to “Approach to the Recurrently Lame Young Dog”, taking place on Wednesday 15th April at 7pm at the lovely Gerrards Cross Golf Club.
This joint event in partnership with Pawra brings together an outstanding panel of speakers — Rufus Hammerton, Alex Krekis, Matt Gurney, Clare Kavanagh and Louise Clark — who will be sharing their expertise on everything from diagnosing young dogs with recurrent lameness, through to surgical options, regenerative medicine, pain management and rehabilitation.

✨ A Heart‑Warming Update: Bella’s Miracle Journey, 9 Years On ✨
Every so often, we receive an update that fills our hearts right up — and Bella’s story is one we’ll never forget. 💛
Bella, a beautiful crossbreed, first came to Davies nine years ago with severe back pain. She was diagnosed with discospondylitis, a serious infection of the intervertebral disc. Despite intensive antibiotics and pain relief, Bella remained in significant discomfort. Further tests revealed that the infection had caused instability in her lower back.
Faced with a difficult decision — and knowing there were risks due to the infection — our team, led by Emilie, chose to stabilise Bella’s lumbosacral joint using screws and bone cement. It was complex surgery… but Bella showed us just how strong she really is. 💪🐾
To our delight, her pain eased shortly after surgery, and she went on to live a wonderfully happy life.
And today?
We’re overjoyed to share this message Bella’s owner recently sent to Emilie:
“Thank you so much for all your help with Bella 9 years ago. Bella is now 10 years old and without your help she wouldn’t have seen one — let alone ten — years old. She is my little miracle. She’s a little (ok, a lot!) wonky, but she’s still very happy and living a comfortable life with her sister Rosie. We’re so grateful she’s still with us after everything she went through. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts — we will never forget what you did for Bella.”
💛🐶 Bella may be a little greyer now, but she has grown older with such grace — and we couldn’t be prouder of the life she’s living.
Thank you to Bella’s family for sharing this beautiful update. Stories like hers remind us why we do what we do.

Meet Louise: Leading the Way in Veterinary Pain Management
At Davies, ensuring every patient’s comfort is a true team effort—supported by Specialists like Louise, our Clinical Lead for Pain Management. Louise has over twenty years' experience as a European and Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons recognised Specialist in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia. She gained an MSc (with Distinction) in the Clinical Management of Pain 10 years ago, as well as more recently being awarded the RCVS Fellowship for Meritorious Contribution to Clinical Practice.
What inspired Louise to specialise in this field?
“Anaesthesia is a technical and equipment driven Specialty, where physiology and pharmacological (medicines) knowledge is important when managing patients undergoing complex procedures. Patients who can also be anxious, worried and painful. We are here primarily to ensure they receive the best possible experience throughout their stay, however complex their medical and pain management needs".
What makes Davies special?
“Our team brings together many individuals who all want the best for their patients. By working collaboratively, we can ensure every animal receives the very best care—whether in surgery, intensive care, or our multidisciplinary Pain Clinic.”
