❤️ Yesterday we scattered our beloved Nelson’s ashes in the sea at Southwold.

🐕 Remembering him blasting across the beach doing zoomies, chasing the kids, hiding in the dunes and enjoying himself in the shallows

We had named him after our favourite pub The Lord Nelson so enjoyed a pint whilst sat on the bench in the sun in his honour 🍻 ☀️

Thank you Nelson for all of the fun, we miss you every day 🥹❤️

‼️Warning don’t scroll left if you don’t like gore! 🤮

The last two days have been a mixed bag. Yesterday started well with Helen being my body in my class for me which felt great to be doing my job !

Then the afternoon was a rollercoaster 🎢!

I ended up back in A&E last night with the dressing feeling like it was constricting my leg. It was getting more and more painful and pins and needles in toes. They cut it off and the blood from wounds had finally dried out and it had dried rock hard into a ring constricting my leg!
This happens quite often apparently. Nothing I had done.
So they cut off the old dressing much to my relief & redressed it & positioned my leg in the black boot which will support its recovery.
The Dr was so fab, it was the same kind man that assisted me when I first arrived after the accident. I took a peek at the wounds 👀🤮! Shared above if you want to look! 😂

The first collage of pics, shows just some of the flowers I’ve received and the dumbbells I had bought in from my gym and two pics of me post workout!

I managed a little upper body sesh today and feel so good for it. 👏

My workout if you want to try it! Took about 20 mins

Seated triset of:
Alternate bicep curls 20
Shoulder press 14
Tricep extensions 14 x 3 sets

Superset x 3 sets
Lateral raises x 12
Frontal raises x 12

Bicep pulses finisher x 20 x 3

Not quite the Monday morning I was expecting …
(Only scroll left if you like gore)

Whilst running a man on a pushbike with his hoody up looking at his phone screen changed everything.

He was weaving around on the pavement and when I tried to get out of his way I slipped and fell.

My ankle audibly cracked & dislocated. I was in agony. I yelled firstly at the man, ‘this was your fault!’ then promptly begged for his help.
He told me to f**k off it wasn’t his fault and cycled off.

A wonderfully kind lady named Preet who was out walking her dog came to my aid, she called an ambulance for me & comforted me as best she could. Another lady stopped her car & put her own cardigan around me & fetched a blanket. Such kindness ❤️
Knowing the wait would be hours for an ambulance I rang my friend who came to the rescue.
Another passerby helped me into her car and onto the hospital.

I’ve not felt pain like it, I don’t think the hospital had heard howling wailing like it either 🙈!

The staff at the Lister hospital have been amazing. They quickly administered pain relief (morphine & this amazing Penthrox inhaler to suck on) I was as high as a kite as they cut through my leggings 😭 & re-alligned my ankle.

It’s fractured in two places so I need surgery to put a plate & pins to hold it in place to ensure the best recovery long term.

I’m nil by mouth waiting for surgery today… fortunately they were so busy & short of beds that I’ve wound up in a private room with my own telly & en-suite!

I’m not going to lie, I’m really devastated.

I won’t be able to run in memory of my cousin Chris, hopefully next year I can give it a go.

I’m worried about the implications of my recovery to my family, business & how I can still work, not let clients down.

Also I have a horse ❤️who I’m not going to be able to ride &take care of so will be trying to workout a solution for her.

Lastly can you imagine me without exercise! 🤯

It’s going to be hard but I know I can come back stronger .

Thank you wonderful friends & family for the love

Why I exercise?

It fills my cup

I feel strong

I feel capable

I feel a greater respect for my body

It energises me

I feel powerful

It’s taught me lessons in discipline and commitment

I want more and I can take on more

It gets me outside

It’s introduced me to new people who have become great friends

It’s given me confidence

I take on new challenges, fitness events and step outside my comfort zone and enjoy the rewards this brings

It makes me a happier person to be around. It makes me laugh and smile

I’m stronger in my 47th year than I ever was in my twenties

I’m future proofing my fitness and quality of life

I’m exercising to help manage my symptoms of peri-menopause

I’m setting a positive example for my son and daughter

Exercise is not only my hobby but also the bedrock of my business that I’ve built and love

Exercise helps me help others ❤️

Why do you exercise?

Want to do more but not sure where or how to start? 💌

Ps the leotard was a kindly birthday gift, sweaty AF! Massive wedgy issues but my back looks ripped!

🥗You are what you eat! 🥗

It’s a juggle trying to find the time to eat well, exercise enough and tick off all of the other duties, tasks in a day that are down to you.

However….

It’s not impossible, it’s doable. It just needs to become more of a priority.

It’s not only your body shape & composition that is affected by what you eat but ….your sleep, mood, energy & stress levels.

Putting a bit more thought and planning into your diet to assess if you are eating too much of one thing and not enough of another is really worth the effort.
The initial effort takes a bit longer but the prep and actual ‘doing’ gets quicker and slicker with time.

Ensuring you Include a little of all that you like is the key to success.

Don’t deprive yourself! But also don’t kid yourself that IF your goal is to drop body fat that focussing well all week and then noshing loads of takeaways and drinking loads of booze won’t negate your efforts . Of course your in the week efforts is better than eating and drinking unhealthily all week But your progress will be greatly slowed.

It’s a way up between what you want more. Putting your goal first and doing what you need to do to make that happen.

Not everybody’s goal is to lose weight. Nor should it be. As a coach I assist my clients reach their own goals, not mine!

If you need to adjust your diet to help with your sports performance or with anxiety, energy levels, health or to lose weight your plan will be different to suit you.

Reflect on what and how you eat and see if you can add a bit more variety, more fresh food, less red meat and feel the gains!

Overall body health needs good nutrition. Feed it what it needs!

As an aside, I miss this hair! 😂

Setting your intentions, creating your goals

It’s the start of a 2024 which gives rise to new opportunities.
What do you want to do more of this year ? What would you like to stop doing or do less of?

Whilst there is some negative noise out there about New Year’s resolutions and why you should boycott them, the other option is to view the start of year not as an overhaul your life but an opportunity to make some positive changes, personal growth & to work towards some ambitions big or small.

Perhaps you need to slow down? This can be a goal, what are you going to do to make sure this happens? Create space in your life for quiet time, reading, Yin Yoga, listening to music or podcasts or even meditation.

Perhaps it’s to do with your health, maybe there is an issue that you have been putting off that you need to prioritise & see the GP about ?

Whatever it is that you want to shift, improve upon or to step outside your usual comfort zone and do. Choosing what this is and committing to do it is a really motivating and positive action to take.

Working out the timeline, what needs to happen and having an actual plan will get you there. Ensuring it’s realistic and doable within timeframe will ensure its achievable. So you can feel those wins, big or small.

Out of your comfort zone: Last year I signed up for 3 fitness competitions, something I’d never done before & truth be known intimidated me right up to the actual events themselves, but I can hand on heart say that completing these events, the training to prepare for them & the taking part has boosted my confidence no end and elevated my personal fitness & made new friends too! It’s good to challenge yourself!

You may know already or have even got started towards your goal but if you need inspiration, get in touch.

One option is of course not change anything or to take on any new challenges and if this feels right for you then that’s great. As they say, you do you!

Onwards 2024! 🤜

I’m just not motivated, what should I do?

I hear this all the time from friends, clients and also from my clients that have previously been driven but just can’t seem to get back to it.

You will never randomly ‘get motivated’ so don’t wait for this to happen

Motivation comes from action ➡️ action creates results ➡️ seeing these results creates ➡️ motivation and the positive cycle begins👏

1️⃣ Action is the first step
Action doesn’t have to be a huge leap, it can be just a small step and then built upon

2️⃣ More small actions create more results resulting in spikes in your motivation, leading to more action 🔃 👏

I understand this journey well, have plenty of personal experience as well as professional successes to help you get started.

Offering 8/12 week online fitness and nutrition programmes we can really start seeing results together

🎄Christmas fitness & nutrition tips

I’m a foodie, Christmas food really ticks all boxes for me in terms of the things I love to enjoy eating!

There is absolutely NO reason why your fitness & nutrition needs to suffer.

I put this newsletter together a couple of years ago, same applies, it gives some easy tips to stay fit whilst not missing out on the scrumptiousness of Christmas.

🎄 Never go to a party or event hungry- Eat a substantial snack filled with protein & fibre before you go

🎄 Alternate your alcoholic drinks with a glass of water, It will help satiate thirst, give your liver a well-earned rest & lower the overall amount of sugar & calories consumed.  It might also save you from a hangover

🎄 Don’t wait until after Xmas to start your fitness journey. There is no reason to sacrifice your fitness until the NY. Stay ahead so you are not overwhelmed in Jan.

🎄 Calories in, Calories out, Be Mindful.
If you are consuming more than you are burning then you will gain weight. Be mindful of your intake

🎄 Choose what you REALLY ❤️.
I’m a strong believer in having what you really want. By this, I mean if it is a mince pie that you really fancy, have it! Ditch the less satisfying calorific extras in favour of good quality delicious treats.

🎄 Eat whole; fibre is the key to satisfaction. Opt for whole-food ingredients throughout your meals

🎄Impulse control- Make sure that you eat three meals & three snacks every day to help avoid impulsive eating.

🎄 Moderation, Motivation & Movement
Approach your festive season with the above words in mind. Bingeing food & booze can lead to rapid weight gain, body fat gains, poor quality sleep & low self-esteem.

Think about how good you feel after exercising, how well you feel with good nutrition & remember you can still have so much fun even with a little moderation.

🌍 World Mental Health day 🌍

Life can be really tough at times, it can feel relentlessly challenging.

World news is so upsetting especially at the moment and you can feel overwhelmed or helpless.

What relaxes you or helps you reset or unwind?

For me it’s the sea, one day I’ll get my dream of living by the sea but sometimes just imagining myself there, looking at old pics can have a positive affect on my mood.

Getting outside in nature 🍁, bare feet on grass, fresh air are all healing.

Focusing on nutrition and sleep and hydration are also massive helpers.

Exercise as you might have gathered plays a huge part in my life, it invigorates, it helps to empty my head stresses. Aids my sleep, mood and keeps me healthy.

Lastly being kind. Showing warmth and empathy to others, listening and checking in on friends and family lifts not only my spirit but might help improve their day too.

I’m no expert in mental health but there are so many places you can contact if you are in need.

❤️ Take care of you ❤️
