We have put an area aside for canoe storage next to the south facing side of the electricity company compound close to the Boat House. During this period of lock down individual canoe and kayak use is permitted exercise. So for those hardy members who fancy some paddled powered fitness building, you are very welcome to keep your canoe at the club. And, if you would like to construct some racking for security and safe storage of your canoe, the Exec will be able to help you with materials to build it. A project for our canoe/kayak owners after lockdown?

Cruiser rallies and mini cruises have become a hot favourite at the Club during 2020. Indeed, whilst members could not launch their boats until June/July, we have packed in the cruiser sailing events during the brief summer season: Seal watching day trips, visiting the rivers Orwell and Deben, Blackwater and Colne.

Also local rallies and mini cruises with members new to cruising; anchoring, staying overnight and braving the elements for the first time with the 'old hands' showing them the ropes.

Above all it has been great fun and the camaraderie during the many events a welcome antidote to the Covid-19 stress we have experienced when ashore.

Following hard on the heals of six boats taking part in the Yokesfleet mini cruise last weekend, more cruisers are heading off again this Saturday for the Osea Island BBQ and start of the family cruise to the Blackwater.

Although we are on CV-19 lockdown and cannot go sailing, friendships between members are a great source for raising spirits and help for those self isolating. Up River Yacht Club is demonstrating every day that our club is MUCH more than a place to park your boat. Here's a picture or two of what we are hoping to get back to when this virus is beaten.
