Royal Hospital School Sailing Academy A centre of excellence for sailing at the Royal Hospital School, Suffolk.

The Royal Hospital School is a boarding and day school for 750 boys and girls aged between 11 and 18, set in 200 acres of Suffolk countryside, overlooking the River Stour and adjacent to Alton Water reservoir. As a result of this 'watery' location, and many years of investment in facilities and specialist coaching, the School is a centre of excellence for sailing.

This weekend, some of our younger sailors are representing the school at the RYA Junior Club Championship.

This is the first-ever RYA Junior Club Championships. A brand-new national event designed to celebrate the energy, talent and team spirit of junior club sailors across the UK.

Following qualification events, it brings together the top junior teams from every RYA region and Home Country for a fun, competitive and highly sociable weekend of racing.

Racing takes place in Topper 5.3 and RS Feva XL classes. With each team sharing a boat between two sets of crews, allocated to yellow and blue divisions.

Each team’s final score will combine all race results from both divisions of both Topper and Feva classes, with no discards.

Strong winds yesterday meant only 6 races were sailed but the RHS sailors performed exceptionally well.

A solid first day for the Feva sailors at the Itchenor Schools Junior Championship. In an 80 strong fleet, the RHS sailors are placed as follows: 9th for Kyan and Bay, 12th for Ben and Ava, 33rd for Lexa and Katia, 52nd for Elsie and Poppi and 65th for Josh and Rias.
