Message from NSR Chairman, Mike Martin regarding the venue for the 2025 regatta

National Schools’ Regatta 2025

We are pleased to announce that the National Schools’ Regatta 2025 will be held from Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th May, at the National Water Sports Centre, Holme Pierrepont, Nottingham.

NWSC was the home of the regatta from 1973 until 2015 and we are delighted to return to a venue that has hosted the regatta through an extended period of time.

We are hugely grateful to Eton College, and in particular Lord Waldegrave, who, as Provost, was instrumental in supporting our request to host the regatta at Dorney Lake. In our time together, the regatta has continued to grow and adapt to the benefit of all the young athletes, schools, clubs and supporters.

However, over the past few years, there have been an increasing number of requests for us to consider a return to Nottingham. With many factors to consider and after very positive and fruitful discussions with the operations and management teams at the NWSC, the Committee have agreed that the time is right for this to happen.

We are excited to work with NWSC to make NSR 2025 a positive, enjoyable and exciting regatta at this great rowing venue and we will be working together with partners over the next few months to ensure that we make the best use of the facilities and site. As ever, we will keep everyone updated as we prepare for NSR 2025.

National Schools' Regatta National Schools’ Regatta offers rowing racing to junior competitors from 14 to 18 years of age. Competitors enter from schools and rowing clubs across the United Kingdom.

Chairman, George Hammond recognised at British Rowing Awards 2022

The winners of the ‘British Rowing Awards’ 2022 were revealed last night on a streamed show with Chairman Mark Davies and Chief Executive Alastair Marks hosting the evening. The event is a celebration of the extraordinary contributions made by so many members of the rowing community across the UK.

Junior Coach of the Year was an award Mark Wilkinson this award was received in addition to the award for Coach of the ‘Junior Crew of the Year’.

🚨 NSR 2023

Recently the NSR Committee stated that certain Championship events would run over the Saturday and Sunday.
We would like to confirm that Championship Eights, Championship Quads and Championship Singles, all in the Open and Girls’ categories, will run over two days.

To facilitate this and to ensure meaningful competition in these events it has been decided that ALL J15 events will run on the Friday.

This will mean a fuller day than in previous years and an earlier start that the 10 o’clock which has been the case before.

The Committee has considered the Ch8/1st8 situation and decided there is no fair way to differentiate between the categories. Therefore the Regatta will continue to run with one category in Girls and Open 8s – Championship Eights.
